New restaurant Los Veracruz open in Tuscumbia
Diners in The Shoals have a new option when it comes to lunch or dinnertime.
Los Veracruz Mexican restaurant officially opened for business on May 4 at 117 US 72 in Tuscumbia.
Owner Juan Jaimes has 10 restaurants in Mississippi, and he said he felt like it is a good time to expand into neighboring Alabama.
“We have been wanting to open a restaurant in this area for a couple of years,” Jaimes said. “I live in Corinth, Mississippi, so it’s not too far from me.”
Jaimes said Los Veracruz offers a variety of food a local diner would expect from a Mexican restaurant, but one thing that might make his place stand out from other, similar offerings is the amount of available seafood.
“We do traditional food, and we like to get people to try something different,” he said. “We are from Veracruz, Mexico (a port city), so we have more seafood dishes. We have a lot of things for people to try, and we hope they like them.”
Jaimes said he opened his first restaurant in 2014 and is “happy” to see another one open for business.
“I hope people like my food,” he said. “Every time we open a restaurant, you hope you bring in people and make them happy.”

Just tried the other new one in Iuka. Been to both restaurants in Corinth.
Los Vera Cruz is “the best” Mexican restaurant (by far) in the Corinth, iuka, Shoals areas…… super great food…beautiful presentation, generous portions and fabulous margaritas!
Can’t wait to try Tuscumbia!
