Bama’s Most Wanted open for business in Spring Park

Recent visitors to Spring Park in downtown Tuscumbia may have noticed a hint of smoke in the air.

Not the kind that leads to a 911 call, mind you. The kind that leads you to delicious food.

Bama’s Most Wanted has been open for business in the park for about two weeks now.

The restaurant is located at the walk-up window that was formerly Dude’s BBQ and a location for Dick Howell’s before that.

While opening a restaurant is always a big step for entrepreneurs, owners Ashley and Brandon Jackson did not have to wait long to take the leap.

“We started as a food truck in October of last year,” Ashley Jackson said. “The food truck did great. It did really well, so we wanted to go further.”

Though Bama’s Most Wanted had only been in operation about six months, the Jacksons decided to give things a go in the vacant barbecue pit, as the Tuscumbia City Council was looking for new tenants for the venue.

“This building had been empty for some time,” Jackson said. “We want to bring life back to the park and bring people here, so we thought this would be the perfect place. We love it here. So far, it has been great. The scenery here and the people.”

Ashley said she and her husband decided to start a food truck business because they both have a passion for cooking.

She said their kids were grown and out of the house, so the couple had time to do what they wanted.

Six months later, the Jackson are soon to host a grand opening at their new location, hopefully within a couple more weeks.

“We have barbecue sandwiches, chicken, whole wings, fries, loaded nachos, slaw and kraut dogs, chicken tenders, lots of sandwiches,” she said. “When we do our grand opening, we will be adding whole chickens, ribs and family packs.”

Bama’s Most Wanted is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridays, noon to 9 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 7 p.m. Sundays.
