MSCS awarded $150K grant for after-school programs

Students with Muscle Shoals City Schools will soon see an expansion of available after-school activities.

MSCS has been awarded $150,000 through the Collaborative ASAP Grant.

According to Muscle Shoals Superintendent Dr. Chad Holden, the funding will significantly expand after-school opportunities for Muscle Shoals Middle School students, support Literacy and Numeracy Summer Camp through Camp Trojans, and provide middle school summer camp experiences focused on academic support and enrichment.

“This collaborative effort strengthens the shared commitment of Muscle Shoals City Schools and the City of Muscle Shoals to meeting student needs, preventing learning loss, and offering high-quality, accessible opportunities for students and families,” he said.

“The partnership between the school system and our city’s parks and recreation department has never been stronger. I’m excited to see what opportunities come from this collaborative grant award.”
