White named Officer of Year by Rotary
In honor of National Police Week, the Greater Area Shoals Rotary Club, Florence Rotary Club and the Fraternal Order of Police hosted the 28th Annual Richard B. Biddle Award for Law Enforcement Excellence ceremony on May 11 at the Clarion Inn in Sheffield.
During the ceremony, Sgt. Hunter White with the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office was honored with the Officer of the Year award for his dedication and outstanding work in law enforcement.
“It is an honor to have deputies like Sgt. White at the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office demonstrating every day what it means to serve with professionalism, dedication and commitment to being one of the best law enforcement agencies in North Alabama,” the CCSO posted to social media.
“It was truly an honor and privilege to support Sgt. White as he received this well-deserved award. Congratulations, Sgt. White, and thank you for your continued service to the citizens of Colbert County.”
National Police Week ran from May 10 through May 16 this year.
According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, in 1962 President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week.
Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
