Tuscumbia Civitan rereleasing popular ornament
The Tuscumbia Civitan Club is rereleasing a popular Christmas ornament in its longtime ongoing series.
Last year’s ornament featured Deshler High School, the 28th ornament in the series. Each year’s ornament depicts local landmarks and historical sites in the community.
“Last year’s Civitan ornament was extremely popular and sold out quickly,” said Civitan President Fred Joly. “For the first time, ever, the club decided to cut an additional supply, to continue selling this particular ornament to the always growing number of students, alumni, and those who love and support the town’s high school.
“If you missed buying one last year, you will now be able to acquire this special ornament, which commemorates the rich history and beauty of Deshler.”
The 2023 Deshler ornaments have been restocked at Fiddledee D! gift shop, 111 S. Main St. Tuscumbia, and at Helen Keller Public Library, 511 N. Main, Tuscumbia.
Each ornament is $20 and can be purchased with cash or checks made payable to Tuscumbia Civitan.
Some ornaments from previous years are also available.
According to Ninon Parker, the Civitan ornament chairperson, the 2024 ornaments are currently in production and are expected to ship soon.
This year’s ornament will feature Coldwater Seed and Supply, a cornerstone of downtown Tuscumbia since 1924.
Purchases of both ornaments may also be made using Paypal, by sending an email request to [email protected]. Your invoice will reflect an additional charge for shipping and surcharge by Paypal.
Sales of the Civitan ornaments and Claxton Fruitcakes support many charitable endeavors in the community. Fruitcakes are now on sale at local grocery stores throughout the holiday season and from Civitan members.
Among the recipients of funds raised are CASA, Meals on Wheels, Safeplace, the Cerebral Palsy Center, Boy’s and Girls’ State and many more philanthropic causes that support the community.
