Spring Park concession stand gets new tenant
The concession stand in Spring Park officially has a new tenant ready to sell their wares.
The Tuscumbia City Council voted unanimously to lease the stand to Afternoon Delights Ice Cream during its June 1 meeting.
Mayor T.W. Billings welcomed owner David Knight, who attended the meeting.
“This is my 12th year now,” Knight said. “I call myself the ‘local neighborhood rolling ice cream truck.’ I have two of those, and I have assigned routes I run on a regular basis.”
Knight said the concession stand was formerly occupied by a competitor, and when it became available, he decided to try it out as a new location.
He said the truck side of the business will continue as usual.
“We will start out running the concession stand Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from lunch until 7 or 8 p.m.,” Knight said. “We have 44 different prepackaged novelty items. Blue Bunny is main product. We are probably going to expand with things like popcorn and coffee. Maybe some watermelon bowls and things like that.”
