Dec. 7 arrest reports

The following arrests were made by the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office:

— On Nov. 24, James R. Martinez, 38, was arrested and charged with reckless driving and attempting to elude. According to Dep. Christopher Miller’s affidavit, while on patrol he allegedly witnessed a vehicle turn off all lights after passing a Tuscumbia unit on a traffic stop. Miller initiated a traffic stop but the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed of up to 137 mph. Th driver eventually came to a stop at Wrenwood Drive and Highway 43.

— On Nov. 29, Nicholas K. Melton was arrested and charged with public intoxication and open container. According to Dep. Tyler Barnett’s affidavit, he was dispatched to the area of Hatton School Road and 2nd Street to a reported reckless driver. He allegedly saw a black SUV swerving all over the road, including going through a back yard of a residence. Upon making a traffic stop, the driver, Melton, had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. A search of the vehicle yielded an open fifth of Jack Daniels with less than a quarter left

— On Nov. 28, Darryl L. Kellam was arrested and charged with second-degree possession of marijuana. According to Dep. Hunter White’s affidavit, while on patrol he allegedly observed a vehicle driving with no headlights or rear running lights. Upon making a traffic stop in the area of Woodmont Drive near Joe Wheeler Drive, White noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver, Kellam, handed over a plastic baggie of marijuana. A search of the vehicle yielded 67 grams of marijuana.
