Sasser, whose appointment was effective Dec. 1, has served as chief engagement officer for Auburn Advancement since 2023.
He brings a wealth of experience in strategic engagement planning as well as volunteer management and serves as the primary liaison to the Auburn Alumni Association Board of Directors.
“Kurt is committed to advancement’s mission and has been instrumental in our integration of engagement into advancement,” Wellbaum said.
“Under his leadership, the division has strengthened operational efficiency and significantly enhanced our work with volunteers, campus partners, and corporate and foundation relations, as well as our events and donor experience strategies.”
In his most recent role, Sasser established the regional engagement program, which provides a framework for advancement to more effectively engage alumni and volunteers across the country.
Additionally, the engagement team has launched the Creed Grants program, creating new avenues to support faculty-and student-led initiatives to deepen their Auburn experience.
“I am excited and deeply honored to step into the role of associate vice president for Engagement. Auburn’s alumni and stakeholder base is truly unmatched, and it is a privilege to serve such a passionate and committed Auburn Family,” Sasser said.
“I look forward to building on the great work already underway and to further strengthening the ways we connect our alumni to their alma mater.”
Sasser began his Auburn career in 2011 under a presidential fellowship through the former office of development.
He then served as director of development for Student Affairs.
Sasser left Auburn to work as an account executive and market development leader for Delta Air Lines in Nashville, Tenn., before returning as associate director for development within the Harbert College of Business.
Sasser holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business.
