Peggy Sue

McCoy, 78

Peggy Sue McCoy,78, of Muscle Shoals, AL died on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, De­cember 3, 2025 from 10 am- 12 pm at Colbert Me­morial Chapel with a grave­side to follow at 12:30 pm at Mt Moriah Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles “poor boy” Matlock; sec­ond husband, Mike McCoy; mother, brothers, sisters, and grandson, Joshua Matlock.

She is survived by her two sons, Regan Matlock (Abbie) and Craig Matlock (Diane); brothers, Jimmy Romans (Sandy), Edward Romans (Brenda), and Wes­ley Romans (Eva); grand­children, Jolanda Matlock, Corey Matlock (Tosha), Zack Matlock (Kayla), Faith Matlock, and Amar­ciah Matlock; great grand­children, Connor Matlock, Hadlee Matlock, Blakely Matlock, and Case Matlock.

Pallbearers will be Co­rey Matlock, Zack Mat­lock, Connor Matlock, Danny Romans, Jeffrey Romans, David Romans, and Johnny Romans.

Special thanks to Com­passus Hospice and sitters, Kayla Matlock and Karley.

Jane Gray

Davis, 74

Jane Gray Davis, 74, of Muscle Shoals, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Novem­ber, 29, 2025 at Colbert Me­morial Chapel from 12 to 1 with a graveside service to follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Victor Brackin will be officiating the service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Thelma Poag; hus­band, Wayne Davis; and twin sister, Jean Horton.

She is survived by her son, Cory Davis (Heather); daughters, Casey Mardis (Brad) and Camby Smith (Jason); grandchildren, Brawly Davis, Pyper Da­vis, Mylie Kiser, Marlie Kiser, Millie Kiser, Cade Smith, and Presley Smith.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Brad McCaig, 58

Brad McCaig, 58, of Leighton, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025. No services are scheduled at this time.

Brad was a lifelong res­ident of the Crooked Oak Community. An avid out­doorsman, he enjoyed deer hunting and driving his tractor. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Sue Wilbanks; and nephew, Kyle McCaig.

Brad is survived by his loving wife of thirty-three years, Brenda McCaig; step­sons, Michael Campbell (Julie) and Tyler Campbell; parents, Gary and Virgin­ia McCaig; brothers, Brian McCaig (Angie) and Bran­don McCaig (Erica); four grandchildren; and numer­ous nieces and nephews.

Larry Gene

Flannagan, 68

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Gene Flannagan, who left this world on No­vember 26th at the age of 68.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, November 29, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will im­mediately follow in the fu­neral home chapel with Dr. Seth Hood officiating. Inter­ment will be in Colbert Me­morial Gardens, Tuscumbia.

Larry was a man whose greatest legacy was his fam­ily and his “servant’s heart.”

Born on April 28, 1957, Larry dedicated his life to those he loved. He was the devoted husband of Teresa Flannagan for 46 wonderful years, having married his high school sweetheart. Their lifelong bond was a beautiful exam­ple of commitment and love.

Larry’s two girls were the light of his life and the source of his greatest pride: Katie Dalrymple and Kris­tin Flannagan. He often said his biggest accomplishment was his family, a testament to the values he instilled in them. His pride and joy were multiplied by his cherished grandchildren: Nora, Oliver, and Theodore Dalrymple.

Larry lived a life charac­terized by kindness, humil­ity, and service to others, leaving behind a legacy of being everyone’s helper.

He was preceded in death by his loving par­ents, Calvin Eugene Flan­nagan and Laura Maude Brannon Flannagan, and his sister, Doris Flannagan.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa, his daughters, Katie (Michael) Dalrymple and Kristin Flan­nagan (Zack Roberson), and his three grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Billy Flannagan (Tona), Di­ane Flannagan, Barbara Campbell (Curtis), Donna Bailey (Ken), Ruby Rob­bins (Lynn), Ken Flannagan (Donna), and Dwight Flan­nagan, along with his broth­ers and sisters -in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Larry’s presence and sense of humor will be deep­ly missed by all who knew him, but his spirit of devo­tion and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family.

Tommy “Hip” Smallwood, 72

Tommy “Hip” Small­wood, born July 29, 1953, went home to be with Jesus, November 28, 2025, after a brief illness. Visitation will be Sunday, November 30, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Cowboy Church of Col­bert County. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 1, at the church with Mitchell Hall­mark and Truman Sutton officiating. Burial will be at Poplar Creek Cemetery.

Hip was born July 29, 1953, but his life didn’t begin until July 21, 1995, when he gave his life to his Lord and Savior. If you knew him before then, you knew what his life was like.

His 2 kids and 2 grand­kids made his eyes light up just to talk about them. The last years that he was able he enjoyed working with lawnmowers. The people that didn’t know him by Hip knew him as the “Lawnmower Man.”

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Smallwood; parents, Al­vin and Mildred Small­wood; and brothers, Glen, Jimmy, Larry, and Jerrell.

He is survived by his wife, of 43 years, Donna Smallwood; son, Zachery Smallwood; grandchil­dren, Connor and Aubrey DeMorse; brothers, Billy and Rodney Smallwood; and sister, Carolyn Tyra.

Pallbearers are Zachery Smallwood, Dustin Ayers, Daniel Scott, Jeffery Small­wood, Rodney Smallwood, and Billy Smallwood.

The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Paul Morris, Dr. A, and the staff of NAMC Hospital, and to the many doctors and nurs­es at UAB for all the won­derful care he received.

Betty Louise Letsinger, 89

Betty Louise Letsinger, age 89, of Leighton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 30, 2025. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, December 2, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral ser­vice will be on Wednesday, at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Kenny Mor­gan and Chad Holder will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

A native of Colbert Coun­ty, Betty was born on Feb­ruary 13, 1936 to the late Earl and Missouri Gregory. She loved going to church services, gospel music, Col­bert County football, her community, and her family. In addition to her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, James Taylor Letsinger; her stepmother, Lizzebell Gregory; numerous siblings and many other relatives.

Those left to mourn her the most include her beloved sons, James Earl Letsinger and John Lance Letsing­er; siblings, Bob Gregory, Paul Gregory, Ed Bullion, Jewell Dean, and Wilode­an Davis; grandchildren, Jenna Atkisson, Madison Mitchell, Kaylee Mitch­ell, Emilee Mitchell, Alex­is Mitchell, and Greyson Jones; and a host of niec­es, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers include Chris Robinett, Chance Robinett, Dennis Gregory, Len Grego­ry, Mark Bullion, Greg Mc­Natt, and Jonathan Landers.

The family gratefully ac­knowledges the kind and compassionate care from the staff of Affinity Hospice.

Raymond Lee Miller, 42

Raymond Lee Miller, 42, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025. Visitation will be Monday, December 1, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Mor­rison Funeral Home, Tus­cumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chap­el with Roger Bond offi­ciating. Interment will be in Hale Cemetery, Killen.

Raymond was a mem­ber of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray­mond and Evelyn Miller, and Roy and Roz Wilson.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Rebecca Wilson Miller; children, Carmen and Camron Miller; par­ents, Leroy and Michelle Miller; brothers, Andy Mill­er, Ryan Miller, and Adam Miller; sister, Kayla Miller Jones (Ronnie); aunt, Mel­anie Whitehead (William); nieces, Maddie Miller and Haley Jones; and neph­ews, Bennett Miller, Coby Montgomery, and Memphis, Levi, and Jackson Jones.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Wayne “JW” Vickers, Jo­seph Chapman, Floyd Glaze Jr., Jamie Yocom, Braxton Curruthers, Logan Durham, and Nathan Huddleston.

Nancy Autery Wilson, 84

Nancy Autery Wilson, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025. A graveside service will be held on Friday, De­cember 5, at Mobile Memo­rial Gardens, Mobile, AL, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Joshua Vacik will officiate.

Nancy was born in Mont­gomery, Alabama, and graduated from the Univer­sity of Montevallo with a degree in Education. She taught for several years at Orchard Elementary in Mo­bile. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, James H. “Jim” Wilson, Sr.; and brother, David Neal Autery.

She is survived by her children, James H. “Ja­mie” Wilson, Jr. and Hei­di Vacik (Joshua); brother, Frank Wayne Autery (Jan); and grandchildren, Sophie, Isabelle, and Luci Vacik.

Maxine Riddle Johnson, 89

Maxine Riddle John­son, 89, of Leighton, AL, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Visi­tation will be held on Mon­day, December 1, 2025 at Colbert Memorial Gardens from 12 to 1 with a service to follow at 1. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gar­dens. Mark Mayfield will be officiating the service.

Maxine and her husband owned and operated John­son T.V. repair. She was a member of Leighton Baptist Church and loved singing in the choir. For many years, she served as the welcoming face of Northwest Shoals Community College, work­ing as a secretary. Maxine’s favorite time of year was Christmas, when she en­joyed decorating her home. She also loved to travel.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Cordie Riddle; husband, James Harley Johnson; sis­ters, Christine Storey, Karen Toy; brother, Robert Riddle; father and mother in-law, Sidney and Bessie Johnson; brother-in-law, Earl Johnson.

She is survived by nieces, Janet Shoemaker (Larry), Teresa Baker (Ray), Heath­er Cox (Garret); nephew, Jay Johnson (Karla), great nieces, Maryann Baker, Larissa Ross (Ryan), Car­oline, CeCe, and Catherine Cox; great nephew, Mark Shoemaker (Jennifer), Riley Johnson; sister-in-law’s, Di­ane Johnson, Keitha McNatt (Donald); numerous great-great niece’s and nephews.

Pallbearers will be, James (Jay) Johnson, Gar­ret Cox, Ray Baker, Kev­in Counts, Wayne Ev­ans, and Anthony Oliver.

In lieu of flowers do­nations may be made to Leighton Baptist Chil­dren’s Church or North­west Shoals Community College Scholarship Fund.

Reba

Jackson, 84

Reba Jackson, born February 21, 1941, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025.

Reba was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, known for her gen­tle spirit and deep love for all living creatures. She es­pecially cherished her ani­mals, always placing their well-being above her own. Her compassion, loyalty, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her.

Reba was preceded in death by her parents, Cur­tis and Carrie Jackson; her brothers Roy, Roland, and Raymond; and her sister Ruby. She is sur­vived by her sister, Bettye; her aunt, Bessie Riley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts.

A dedicated and hard­working woman, Reba re­tired from the TVA Colbert Fossil Plant, where she served as an Auxiliary Op­erator. She took great pride in her work and the many years she spent contribut­ing to a team she respected.

A graveside service will be held at Colbert Memo­rial Gardens at 11:00 a.m. on November 29, 2025.

The family extends a very sincere thank you to the staff at Countryside Nursing Fa­cility for the care and kind­ness they provided to Reba.

Reba will be remembered for her warmth, her love for her animals, and the steady, humble presence she brought to those fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, reunited with the family she missed so dearly.

Donald Noel

Abernathy, 72

Donald Noel Abernathy, 72, of Tuscumbia, AL died on Thursday, November 27, 2025. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Decem­ber 3, 2025 from 5-7 pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel. A service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Colbert Memorial Chap­el at 1 pm. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Debra Lynn Cogdill, 72, of Leighton, AL died on Friday, November 28, 2025. Information on a Cel­ebration of Life in March 2026 will be forthcoming.
