Boatwright, 42
Zachary Ryan Peck Boatwright, 42, Florence, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 11, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Thursday, June 12, in the funeral home chapel, beginning at 12:00 p.m. with Greg Woodall officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Tree Cemetery, Hackleburg.
Zachary graduated from Coffee High School with the class of 2000. He was an avid golfer, loved Auburn Football, and enjoyed music, especially attending concerts and music festivals. Zachary was an Affiliated Twitch Streamer. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James H. Boatwright.
Zachary is survived by his father, Dexter R. Boatwright; brother, Mason D. Boatwright; sisters, Cydni R. Pounders (Corey), Shelby W. Boatwright, and Kristina Vess Royce (Dalton); grandmother, Rachel A. Boatwright; nieces and nephews, Cecilia, Jasper, Reagan, and Riley; numerous cousins; and lifelong friends, Zach Hodges and Kenneth Lawson, whom he considered brothers.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Lawson, Zach Hodges, Zach McKinney, Kyle Wylie, Luke Davis, David Turpen, Drew Hardeman, and Trent Graham.

Collum, 85
Brenda Robinson Collum, 85, of Muscle Shoals, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 17, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Chad Holder officiating. Interment will be at Harris Chapel Cemetery, Cherokee.
Brenda was a member of York Bluff Baptist church and was the office manager in the medical building at TVA for 34 years. After retirement from TVA, Brenda worked over 25 years in clothing retail with Parisian and Belk Department Stores.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles Wheeler Collum and 9 siblings.
Brenda is survived by her children, Leigh Ann Pierce and husband Elmer and Jonathan Charles Collum and wife, Melanie; grandchildren, E. Lucas Pierce and wife, Kelly, Tate MacHenry Pierce, Sara Elizabeth Pierce, Saylor Grace Collum, Kate Wheeler Collum, and Caston Charles Collum; brother, David Winston Robinson; sister, Helen Virginia Joiner; a host of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Shannon and Sheila Creasy and Eric Howard and family.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Bobby Joe Martin, 79, Tuscumbia, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Arrangements for a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
Bobby was a veteran of the US Navy and a member of Steamfitters Local 760. He enjoyed spending time fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chesley and Martie Martin; grandson, Alex Brett Gilbert; and son-in-law, David M. Newman.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Rena F. Martin; daughter, Constance L. Newman; son, Michael Martin; brother, Robert D. Martin; sister, Connie Scott; bonus-granddaughter, Elizabeth Stacey; and special friends, Darnell George and the Stacey family.
Charles Larry Smallwood, 77
Charles Larry Smallwood, 77, of Muscle Shoals, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, surrounded by his family. There will be a visitation on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. The funeral for Charles will be on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel in Tuscumbia with officiating. The burial will follow in Guy Cemetery.
Larry was a native and lifelong resident of Colbert County. He was retired from Robbins Tire & Rubber Company and a member of Muscle Shoals Church of God.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Alvie and Mildred King Smallwood; and brothers, Glenn Autrey Smallwood, Jimmy Dole Smallwood, and Jerrell Duane Smallwood.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Linda Smallwood; sons, Charles Michael Smallwood and Larry Greggery Smallwood; brothers, Billy Smallwood (Barbara), Tommy Smallwood (Donna), and Rodney Smallwood (Charlotte); sister, Carolyn Smallwood (Bobby); and grandchildren, Carly Marie Smallwood and Charles Marshall Smallwood.
The Pallbearers will be Jimmy Thompson, Billy Smallwood, Austin Handley, Rodney Smallwood, Don Williams, and Roger Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Smallwood, James Lindsey, and Donald Collins.
Joyce Grainger Farmer, 86
Joyce Grainger Farmer, 86, of Florence, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025. There will be a small memorial at a later date.
Joyce was a native of Lawrence County, Alabama and a member of York Bluff Baptist Church, formerly, First Baptist Church of Sheffield. Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to Facebook, play online spades, and voice her political views. Joyce was also an avid gardener with red geraniums being her favorite flower.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Olen and Lorene Grainger; brother, Charles Grainger; and grandson, Cody Farmer.
Joyce is survived by her children, Kristi Farmer Montero, Larry Farmer, Jr., and Lee Farmer (Dena); sister, Linda Grainger James; grandchildren, Julie Montero Adams (Isaac), Lee Lane (Samantha), and Rodney Farmer; great-grandchildren, Teagan Adams, Cotton Montero, Lia Adams, Jeremiah Adams, Liam Adams, Jesse Stanfield, and Raven Lane; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Peggy Ann Hairrell, 89, of Decatur, AL passed away Monday, June 9, 2025. Visitation will be Thursday, June 12 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm and funeral service at 2:00 pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Brother Thomas Thornton and Brother Eric Albright officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Peggy was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She was a devoted wife and mother, loved directing weddings, decorating, and entertaining guests. Hospitality was always found in the Hairrell home. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Elbert Taylor (Snooky) Hairrell; parents, James Eders Canerday, Sr and Movaline Powers Canerday; brother, James Eders Canerday, Jr; and son
-in-law, Arlen Dwight “Buster” Petty.
She is survived by her three children, Teresa Ann Hairrell, Elbert Keith Hairrell (Terri), Jamie Roberts (Kirk); grandchildren, Lee Clark (Janna), Lauren Petty, Lise Greene (Jim), Aubrey White (Justin), Justin Hairrell (Tasha), Ansley Baccus (JonTyler), Judson Roberts, Addison David (Josh), 14 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Judy Carol Grubbs, 76
Judy Carol Grubbs, 76, of Tuscumbia, AL, passed away peacefully at her home on June 11, 2025. Visitation will be Friday, June 13, 2025, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. A funeral service officiated by Ben Hayes and Michael Jackson will be held at 2:00 pm at the same location. Burial will be at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Judy was a member of Highland Park Church of Christ in Muscle Shoals, AL. Judy was the secretary at Highland Park Church of Christ for 18 years.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence South, and her mother, Marie South, both of Muscle Shoals, AL.
Judy is survived by her husband of 58 wonderful years, Glen Grubbs; her three sons and three daughters-in-law, Scott (Monica) Grubbs, Tony (Chantelle) Grubbs, and Tim (Malia) Grubbs; her two sisters, Jan Lasseter (Dave), Faye Dawson (Ferrell); and 9 grandchildren.
Judy was a beacon of love and strength for her family, touching the lives of her nine grandchildren, whom she adored. She was the proud Granna of Noah, Jake (Taylor), Eli (Delaney), Cooper, Zeke, Essie, Rosie, Jonah, and Micah Grubbs. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she in theirs.
Judy’s love for her family was profound and unwavering.
She created a home filled with warmth, love, and laughter, where everyone was always welcome. Her memory will forever be a guiding light for her family and all who knew her.
Serving as Pallbearers will be her five oldest grandsons and Bobby Price. Honorary pallbearers will be the elders of Highland Park Church of Christ.
We give special thanks to Nurse Hannah and Aid Jennifer along with Gentiva Hospice Care.

Sharon Rae Helen Potoski, 74, of Leighton, AL, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Burial will be in Poplar Creek Cemetery on Monday June 16, 2025. Colbert Memorial will be assisting the family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Wanda Nagy.
She is survived by her husband, Alton Allen; sons, Chad Potoski and Charles Potoski Jr.; daughter, Deanna Whitehead (Billy); grandchildren, Kayla Potoski, Ashley Potoski, Tristan Potoski, Madison Potoski, Mason Potoski, Carly Whitehead.
Pallbearers will be Chad Potoski, Charles Potoski, Tristan Potoski, Mason Potoski, Billy Whitehead, Rivers Poole.
Janice Othera Rowell
Turner, 72
Janice Othera Rowell Turner was born April 21, 1953 in Lauderdale County, Alabama to the late Amos and Annie Rowell.
She departed this life on June 5, 2025 at Helen Keller Hospital surrounded by her family.
She became a member of Bethel at an early age. She made confession on Sunday, August 3, 1964, under Reverend W.A. Ashford at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Bethel Lauderdale Missionary Baptist Church and Mt. Zion AME Church. At an early age, she was a member of the Junior Choir and during her adult life she taught Vacation Bible School during the summer at Bethel. She remained a faithful member until death.
She began her education at Mt. Zion Elementary School, attended West End High School, and graduated from Waterloo High in Waterloo, Alabama. After graduating from high school, she attended Alabama A&M University, Normal, Alabama. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. After graduation, she began her teaching career at Oakland Elementary School, Oakland, Alabama. Later, she became a staff member at Waterloo Elementary School in Waterloo, Alabama, teaching elementary education. She returned to Alabama A&M and obtained her master’s degree in education. She remained at Waterloo until her retirement after 25 years. Following her retirement, she spent time with family, friends and serving the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Annie Mae Rowell; brother, William H. Rowell; and husband, Matthew Turner.
She is survived by one brother, Amos Rowell, Jr. (Rose); three sisters, Annie Rowell Beckwith (Charles), Mary Rowell Weddington (Louie-deceased), and Rubye Rowell Fuqua (Leon); one sister in-law, Mattie Garner (Levon); one brother in law, Edgar Turner; stepchildren, Kathy Roberson, Zalencia Turner, Kielly Hill, and Matthew Turner; four nephews, Carlton, Nikia, Darryl, and Trey; four nieces, Daria, Darnea, Chandra, and Chareta; and several great-nieces and nephews and several great- great-nieces and nephews.

Mary Elizabeth Horton age 67 of Sheffield, passed away on June 13, 2025, Visitation will be Friday, June 20, 2025 at Williams Funeral Home from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm. Services to follow at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the funeral home with Maejean Kimbrough officiating. Burial will be at Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father Howard Roden. Son Chad Letson. Brother Doyle Roden. And nephew Chris Roden.
Mary is survived by her mother Eva Roden. Two children; Melissa Letson and Howard Letson (Annette). One sister Renee Letson. Four grandchildren; Anthony West (Haylie), Quinton West (Courtney), Chadleah Letson (Tomas) and Journee Letson. Eight great grandchildren; A.J., Capri, Addy, Jordan, Onna, Christopher, Oakley, and Layla.
