Joshua Duane Oliver, 35, Tuscumbia, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025. Visitation will be Thursday, April 24, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Friday, April 25, in the funeral home chapel beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
Joshua was preceded in death by his mother, Sheila Oliver; and Mawmaw, Kathy Oliver.
He is survived by his children, Ashton, Nevaeh, and Memphis Oliver, and Micah Vess; father, Michael “Duane” Oliver; grandmother, Shirley Nelson; grandfather, Zollie Oliver; and the mothers of his children, Christina Oliver and LaDonna Vess.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

James Allen “Jimmy” Rhea, 66, of Florence, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025. There will be a memorial service, Saturday April 26, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM at Morrison Funeral Home, Central Heights with Dewayne Crumley officiating.
Jimmy was an outdoorsman, a stellar fisherman, and an avid Alabama Fan, Roll Tide!!! Jimmy was loved by many and will be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lauren and Betty Rhea; brother, Kenny Rhea; sister, Karen Wales.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Rhea Gaston (Jonathan); son, Devan Johnson; brother, Kirby Rhea; sisters, Anne Baker (Jim), Marcy Rhea, Marilyn Rhea, Margie Reed (Roger), Donna Jones (Dave), and Rebecca Rhea; and a host of nieces and nephews, other family and friends.

Valerie Nicole “Nikki” Mayfield, 51, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Visitation will be Friday, April 25, from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at Morrison funeral Home, Tuscumbia. A memorial service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Thomas Lloyd and Kenny Taylor officiating.
Nikki was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Russellville. She lived a life rooted in love, always putting others first and finding true joy in lifting others up. Known as the queen of doing too much, she never missed a chance to go all out when it came to celebrating others. Her greatest happiness came from time spent with the people she loved most – her family. Nikki was preceded in death by her mother, Deborah Canida; and sister-in-law, Renae Trapp.
She is survived by her husband, Jeremy Mayfield; children, Kaitlyn Mixon-Wilson (Jordan) and Caleb Mayfield (Catelyn); sisters, Jamie Scott (John) and Stephanie Gandy; special nieces, Alexis Hunt (Stephen) and Alyssa Jones (Logan), Gigi’s babies, Paislee Parker, Dillon Wilson, Xaine Fuller, Rylli Fuller, and Emery Hunt; sister-in-law, Sheila Taylor (Kenny); brother-in-law, Gary Mayfield (Heather); and nieces and nephews, Kyle Trapp, Kayla Trapp, Josiah Trapp, Leah Trapp, Jonathan Taylor, Justin Taylor, Jordan Taylor, Jessica Taylor, Nicholas Scott, and Logan Scott.

Leslie Vernon Rhoden, 89, Tuscumbia, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Visitation will be Saturday, April 26, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Valdosta Church of Christ, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow at the church with Ed White and David Conley officiating. Interment will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens, Tuscumbia.
Les was a native of Leighton, a member of Valdosta Church of Christ in Tuscumbia, and a member of the Rotary Club in Florida. He was a veteran of the US Army. Throughout his life Les wore many hats. He was an educator, “Coach”, businessman, administrator, and a farmer who loved horses. But the title he wore most proudly and affectionately was “Daddy”. Les was preceded in death by his parents, George and Clara Rhoden; brothers, Roland and David Rhoden; and granddaughter, Sara Rhoden.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Nancy Carolyn Smith Rhoden; children, Steve Rhoden (Vicki), Greg Rhoden (Lisa), Robin Rhoden (Myra), Laura Petree (Jon), Donna Holmes (Jeff), and Sharon Grill (Donnie); grandchildren, Ryan Rhoden (Brittney), Tasha Petree, Elizabeth Rhoden, Emily Fields (Daniel), Reid Rhoden, Leslie Plant (Tanner), Austin Holmes (Molly), Adam Holmes, and Katherine Grill; great-grandchildren, Deacon Rhoden, Abram Fields, Eli Rhoden, Lucas Fields, Reese Holmes, and Scarlet Plant; and special daughter, Autumn Owens.
Grandsons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.

José Isaac Martinez Rodriguez, 45, Cherokee, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Visitation will be Sunday, April 27, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Mr. Martinez will lie in state on Monday, April 28, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church, Tuscumbia, with the funeral immediately following. Fr. Benny Karimalikkal will officiate. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
José was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Bonnie Hoover.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Martinez; children, Angel Martinez, Mikeila Martinez, and Maite Martinez; parents, Juan Martinez Rodriguez and Ma de Jesús Rodriguez Ortiz; six brothers, five sisters, two grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and family members.

Edward Dewayne “Eddie” Anglin, 63, of Tuscumbia, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, at Tharptown Cemetery.
Eddie was a native of Russellville, Alabama and was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Anglin and father, Edward Anglin.
He is survived by his sister, Melissa Anglin; brother, Scott Anglin (Michelle); and a host of nieces and nephews.

Eddie Marie White McClish, 81, of Waterloo, passed away, Thursday, April 24, 2025. A Memorial Service will be held at Lighthouse Apostolic Church Sunday, April 27, 2025 beginning at 2:00 P.M. with Nelson A. McClish officiating. Burial will be at Murphys Chapel Cemetery.
She was a member of Acts Church (Apostolic Church of The Shoals), a house parent for Attention homes of N.W. AL, and enjoyed being a foster parent where she raised 36 children.
Eddie was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Dorothy White; sister, Peggy White Powell; brother, Robert White; son, Arnold Ray McClish; grandchildren, Cheyenne Embery; great grandchild, Kameron Dulaney.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Nelson Wayne McClish; children, Waynette McClish, Kristie Lynn McClish, Dorothy McClish, and Judy McClish Embery (Leon); sister, Shirley White Hinton; grandchildren, Daren Dulaney (Kassie), Laynette Dulaney, Nelson A. McClish (Amber), Kristie Lucille Wood (Tyler), Eddie Embery; great grand children Scarlette Dulaney, Evan Dulaney, Karson Dulaney, Saylie Brown, Brynleigh Trusty, Tatum Wood, and Scarlett Wood.

Diane Sophie McBrayer
Diane Sophie McBrayer, of Tuscumbia, AL, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025. No services will be held at this time.
Born on September, 23, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the beloved wife of the late James McBrayer.
Diane is survived by her children, Cindy Franks (Gary), Katrina Kenney (Gerrick), and Tim McBrayer. Her grandchildren include Brittany Thornton (Brad), Haley Scott (Tommy), Zac Franks, Tiffany Franks, Kelly Kenney, Andrew Kenney, Chris Kenney, Alanna Holton, and Brendan McBrayer. She was the cherished great-grandmother of Brylee Thornton and Aiden Holton.
A devoted Christian, Diane cherished her family, was an amazing mother, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She had a passion for God, loved helping others, and was known for her warm smile and kind heart.

Jewell Dean Fuller Posey, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2025. A beloved matriarch, she leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories.
She is survived by her devoted children, Andy Posey (Nancy) and Susan Hamm (Mitch); her grandchildren, Whitney Hamm (Kevin Moody), Morgan Williams (Robbins), and Alanna Posey; and her great-grandchildren, Sadler Grace Williams, Birdie Williams, Lainey Gregory, Maddox Shockley, and Maggie Shockley. She also held dear her god-granddaughter Sylvia Ruth Tomlinson Wilder, and special friends, Joyce Bishop, Judy Davis, and Joey Poss.
Jewell Dean’s life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those she loved.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 11 a.m. in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Phillip Russell will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Loyd Gilford King, 85
Loyd Gilford King, 85, longtime resident of Sheffield AL passed away peacefully Thursday, April 24, 2025, in his favorite spot on the back patio listening to the birds after the rain. He graduated from Sheffield High School and received his bachelor’s in accounting from Florence State University (UNA). Loyd enlisted in the Navy in 1957 and served 6 years on the USS Independence. He was proud to be a Navy Veteran and wore his Navy hat with pride.
Loyd worked as an accountant until he retired. He had a givers heart and was always helping those in need. He was a member of Park Terrace Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over 35 years where he served as Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and other volunteer roles. Loyd was a devoted Christian and loved his church. He was an avid reader of the Word and enjoyed filling his extensive library with many treasures, which he freely loaned to anyone who asked. Loyd always enjoyed a good game of chess and enjoyed sharing the game with his daughters and granddaughters.
Loyd was preceded in death by his parents; Howard George and Dorothy Perry King, brother; Kenneth Richter King, and nephew; Kenneth Richter King II (Rich). Loyd was a loving father to his two daughters Jennifer King Cornelius (Jeff) and Katherine King Wise (Joe); and proud grandfather to Kaitlin Cornelius, Karley Cornelius Taylor (Skylar), Kenzie Cornelius, and Abby Wright. His granddaughters were his pride and joy. The adventures he had while picking them up from school were some of his fondest memories.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 1-3 pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a service to follow at 3pm in the chapel. Rev. Dr. Jeff Davis will be officiating. The burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield. Pallbearers are Joe Wise (Son-in-Law), Blake McKinney, Troy Mitchell, Tony Montgomery, John Paul Sanderson, and Forest Smallwood.
We rejoice that dad is healed and in his eternal home! We want to say a special thank you to the best neighbors Loyd has ever had, Donald & Debbie Maples. Thanks to Dr. Pearlman and his Team and Dr. Kingsley and his staff for their loving care. And many thanks to the Amber’s at Preferred Home Health.

Nancy E. Boothe, age 60, of Sheffield, passed away April 19, 2025. Visitation will be Thursday, April 24 at Williams Funeral Home from 12:00pm until 1:30pm. The graveside service will follow at 2:00pm in Guy Cemetery – Tuscumbia, Alabama. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
She is preceded in death by her father Ralph Pitts, her mother Lela Chaney, and her brother Ronnie Aday.
Nancy is survived by three sons, Thomas J. Hymans II, Timathe Joseph Hymans, and Lelan Craig Boothe; brothers, Ricky Lee Robinette, and Kenneth Aday; sisters, Callie Perry, Julie Simbeck, and Debra Ann Stark. Additional survivors include grandchildren, Madeline Faith Hymans, MacKenzie Horton, and Wyatt Horton; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dewana Gail Tidwell (Smalley) on April 19, 2025, at the age of 68. She was born in South Charleston, WV on December 31, 1956 and preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Elsie Smalley of Mount Hope, WV. Dewana was a 23-year resident of Jasper, AL and is survived by her husband, Rip Tidwell, and four children, Jason Combs (Grace), Jeremy Combs (Kimber), Jennifer Meador Tidwell (Eric), J.R. Tidwell, and 10 grandchildren, Gavin Combs, Owen Combs, Liam Combs, Ella Combs, Everett Combs, Austin Meador, Ava Meador, Rosie Meador, Savanna Hall, and Sianna Barber. She is also survived by her sister, Jodie Addis (Steve), nephew Christopher Karnes and niece Sarah Douglas. We ask that you keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May her memory be a blessing and may her soul rest in eternal peace.

David was a member of World Outreach Church and an avid fan of Alabama Football, Braves Baseball, and Nascar. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Linda Cole.
David is survived by his brothers, Michael Cole (Beth) and John Cole.
