Robert Doddridge Ferguson, 87

Robert Doddridge Fergu­son, 87, Tuscumbia, passed away on Monday, Novem­ber 18, 2024. Visitation will be Saturday, November 23, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Morrison funeral Home, Tuscumbia. A full military service will im­mediately follow in the fu­neral home chapel with Ed White, David Conley, and Susan Ferguson officiating. Interment will be in Oak­wood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Robert was a veteran of the US Army and a mem­ber of Valdosta Church of Christ, Tuscumbia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Bates; father, Adrian Hunt Ferguson; and sister, Anita Burch.

Robert is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ferguson; children, Dr. Susan Fergu­son and James Robert Fer­guson; sisters, Grace Fergu­son Woodall and Adrienne Ferguson Tarsel; and grand­daughter, Alexandria Martin.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Owen, Roger Choat, Jason Swindle, Kenny Nunnal­ly, Wallace Handley, Mike Longcrier, and Ray Co­burn; Roy and Betty Co­burn, and Phillip and Pam Whiteside will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Julie Cara Malone, 55

Julie Cara Malone, 55, Tuscumbia, passed away on Wednesday, Novem­ber 20, 2024. Visitation will be Sunday, Novem­ber 24, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. A pri­vate graveside service will be held for the family, with Daniel Dulaney officiating.

Julie worked as a certi­fied nurse’s assistant for twenty-five years. She loved her dogs. She was preced­ed in death by her moth­er, Gypsie Malone; father, Jerry Malone; and hus­band, Bradley Alsobrooks.

Julie is survived by her daughter, Megan James (Patrick); brothers, James Malone and Billy Reyn­olds; grandchildren, Kaylee James and Brody James; and longtime spe­cial friend, Mary Spires.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Nell Kathryn Sanderson Chism, 100

Nell Kathryn Sanderson Chism, 100, Spring Valley, passed away on Tuesday, No­vember 19, 2024. Visitation will be Saturday, November 23, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Tuscumbia. The funeral ser­vice will immediately fol­low at the church with David Chism, Benjamin Gray, and Elizabeth Park officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Mo­riah Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Nell was a native of Ful­ton, MS, and a longtime resident of Spring Valley. She enjoyed planting and tending her garden. Nell was a member of Mt. Mo­riah Baptist Church. As a loving and devoted Pastor’s wife, she enjoyed serving in many churches in northeast Mississippi and northwest Alabama and led wom­en’s Bible Study for fifty years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vir­gil Chism; three sisters; two brothers; and infant son, Virgil Devons Chism, Jr.

Nell is survived by her children, David Chism (Melissa) of Franklin, TN, Dena Gray (John) of Mus­cle Shoals, and Anna Kath­ryn Hardin (Mike) of Bir­mingham; grandchildren, Kara Chism of Hoover, Blake Chism (Keely) of Laguna Beach, CA, Han­nah Chism of Nashville, TN, Benjamin Gray (Laura) of Huntsville, Katie Perry (Clint) of Muscle Shoals, Andrew Gray (Sandra) of Muscle Shoals, David Har­din (Anabeth) of Hoover, and Elizabeth Park (Bri­an) of Hoover; and fifteen great-grandchildren, with #16 due in early December.

Her grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

James “Jimmy” Thompson, III, 71

James “Jimmy” Thomp­son, III, 71 of Sheffield, passed away on Friday, No­vember 22, 2024. Visitation will be Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Florence with a memorial service follow­ing in the funeral home chapel. Sloan Dickerson will officiate the service.

Jimmy was a native and lifelong resident of the Shoals. He was an avid out­doorsman and especially enjoyed hunting and fish­ing. He was a past presi­dent of the Central Dixie Youth and really enjoyed the time he spent coach­ing. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Thompson.

Jimmy is survived by his son, Jimmy Thompson (Ginger); grandchildren, Andon and Ali Thompson; brother, Wade Thompson; sister, Nancy Lachowicz; and nieces and nephew, Me­lissa Strother, Mandi Lacho­wicz, and Chet Lachowicz.

Carolyn Diane Myrick Butler, 72

Carolyn Diane Myrick Butler, 72 of Florence passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024 at North Alabama Medical Center. A grave­side service will be held at Pisgah Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Nathan Raines will be officiating.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Jackson & Helen Payton, late husband of 42 yrs Bil­ly H. Myrick Sr., daughter LaDonice Borden, grand­daughter Suzanna Borden and brother Jackie Payton.

Carolyn is survived by husband Warren But­ler, children Jimbo Kel­ley, Kim Faires (Kevin), Jason Myrick (Amber) and Angie Nard (Nathen). With numerous grand chil­dren and great grandchil­dren, brother Jerry Payton.

Pallbearers will be Kel­by Borden, Paul Pound­ers, Braxton Shook, Jack­son Burford, Nathen Nard and Jerry Payton Jr.

Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Carol Ann Mask Stockton, 79

Carol Ann Mask Stock­ton, age 79, of Tuscumbia, Alabama, peacefully met her Lord and Savior on Sat­urday, November 23, 2024. Surrounded by the love of her family, she left this world for her eternal home in Heaven. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 26, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral ser­vice will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Mike Noles officiating. Interment will be at Oak­wood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Born on April 21, 1945, in Sheffield, Alabama, Carol’s life was a beautiful testa­ment to her unwavering faith and a vibrant confidence in God’s grace and mercy. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, and the genuine love she ex­tended to everyone around her. Her spirit was marked by grace and gratitude, and she embraced each day with a heart full of love. Carol embodied the words of 2 Timothy 4:7. She fought the good fight, finished her race, and remained steadfast in her faith until the very end.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sarah Ev­elyn “Evie” Lackey Mask and Howard Mask, and her beloved husband of 50 years, Herbert Ray Stock­ton, with whom she shared a beautiful and blessed life.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Natasha Lindsey (Matt); cherished grandsons, Ryan and Ky Lindsey; and, as she fondly introduced them, her poten­tial future granddaughters, Kacey Senn and Anna Clot­felter. She also leaves behind her loving sister, Brenda Isbell; her dear sisters-in-love, Johnnie Robertson, Betty Stockton, and Shirley Stockton; as well as numer­ous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to ex­tend heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of Helen Keller Radiology, Hospice of North Alabama, Ginny Burgess, Daniel Freemon, Dr. Joshua Vacik, and Dr. Joseph Brasco for their ex­ceptional care and support throughout Carol’s illness.

Carol’s legacy of love and faith will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Lindsey, Ky Lindsey, David Isbell, Ashley Isbell, Bubba Stockton and David Wat­kins. Honorary Pallbearers include The Sheffield Senior Center men, and John Cotton.

Frances Edmondson Mor­gan, 91, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Visi­tation will be Tuesday, No­vember 26, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with her son-in-law, Ronnie Mar­tin, officiating. Interment will be in Colbert Memo­rial Gardens, Tuscumbia.

Frances was a member of Hook Street Baptist Church, Tuscumbia. She was preced­ed in death by her husband, Luther Morgan; parents, Burke and Sallie Edmond­son; special aunt and uncle, Ruth and Edgar Johnson; and sister, Billie Lindsey.

Frances is survived by her children, Michael Mor­gan (Paula) and Anita Mar­tin (Ronnie); sister Willa Dean Bethune; grandchil­dren, Eric Martin (Tatum), Zach Morgan (Heather), and Ben Morgan; great-grand­children, Anne Marie Par­rish (Alex), Parker Mor­gan, and Finley Morgan; and great-great-grand­children, Blakley Par­rish and Caroline Parrish.

Pallbearers will be Zach Morgan, Ben Morgan, Eric Martin, Curtis Burns, Parker Morgan, Donnie Burns, Tony Burns, Roger Burns, and David Bethune.

Terry William McMinn, 77

Terry William McMinn, 77, of Muscle Shoals, AL passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024. Visita­tion will be Thursday, No­vember 21, 2024 from 11 a.m. 2 p.m. at Colbert Me­morial Chapel immediately followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Pas­tor Mark Mayfield will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pauline Mc­Minn; son, Daryl McMinn (Stacy); brother, Tony Mc­Minn; sister, Carol Mueller (Jimmy); grandchildren, Sam and Emma McMinn; and also, many cous­ins, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Jessie McMinn; sister-in-law, Sylvia Laiche McMinn.

He was a member of Leighton Baptist Church and a former member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church where he taught 7th and 8th grade boys Sun­day School for many years.

He retired from Mus­cle Shoals Electric De­partment after 40 years of hard work and dedication. He was a member of Local 558 IBEW Where he taught first year apprentice line­man for over 20 years. He loved Muscle Shoals City and therefore served as an interim city councilman on 2 separate occasions.

He was a member of Shef­field Lodge 503. He was a member of Muscle Shoals Lions Club. He volun­teered his time sitting with some homebound friends so their families could go to church. He also helped numerous friends and family whenever needed.

He was born in Muscle Shoals and graduated Mus­cle Shoals High School in 1965. He was a standout athlete in baseball and foot­ball. His love for football led to him being recruited by Bear Bryant at the Uni­versity of Alabama and ul­timately playing at Missis­sippi State University. He left Mississippi State to join the US Airforce where he served 4 years. He married his high school sweetheart, Pauline and returned home to Muscle Shoals where he started his family and his career as an electrician.

He was the best husband, father, grandfather, broth­er and friend. He loved his family and especially loved being Pops to Sam and Emma. They were his greatest joy. He enjoyed be­ing outside taking care of his property and picking up pecans. He loved to share them with others. He also enjoyed beekeeping and sharing honey with others too. He loved his pets, the Trojans and his country.

A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Brad McAnnally and staff, Dr. Birchfield and the VA administration for the care and help given at Cypress Cove Rehab. A special thanks to Affinity Hospice, their nurses and caregivers for all their help. Also thank you to Tracy and Jennifer.

Juan Armando Flores

Calvillo, 45

Juan Armando Flores Calvillo, 45, Sheffield, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Visi­tation will be Sunday, No­vember 24, from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The fu­neral mass will be held on Monday, November 25, at Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church, Tuscum­bia, beginning at 12:00 p.m. with Father Benny Karima­likkal officiating. He will lie in state for one hour prior to the start of the service. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Armando was a loving and devoted father. He was the life of the party and was loved by many friends and family. He would always make you laugh and smile at life. He may be gone, but he will never be forgot­ten. Long live “El Guapo”.

He is survived by his children, Britany Flores and Josue Flores; parents, Miguel and Maria Flores Calvillo; brothers Mi­guel Flores and Gerardo Flores; and sisters, Grisel­da Flores and Alma Flores.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Suzanne Miller Wassner, 67

Suzanne Miller Wassner departed this life on No­vember 24, 2024, one day short of her 68th birthday. She was born in Baldwin, MS but was raised in Shef­field and was a lifelong Bulldog. She married Wayne Wassner on April 11, 1981 and together they had three wonderful children who were the light of her life. They, in turn, provided her with four beautiful grand­children who filled her later years with love and laughter.

Visitation will be at Col­bert Memorial Chapel on November 27, 2024 from 10 to 12 with a service to follow. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Suzanne was very in­volved in the lives of her children and her home was always full of kids. She was also active in the American Cancer Society and many of the “Bosom Buddies” support group members re­mained her lifelong friends. Of course, she rarely missed an opportunity to go out with her girlfriends- the “Sheffield Mafia” to enjoy each other’s company and exchange valuable infor­mation on current events. Suzanne had many, many other wonderful lifelong friends, too numerous to list, who will miss her dearly.

Suzanne was preced­ed in death by her mother and father, Grady Wayne and Juanita Herring Mill­er of Sheffield. Her mother and father-in-law, Wanda and Don Wassner loved her like their own daughter.

Suzanne is survived by her husband Wayne and three children Megan (Lee) Artz of Starkville, MS. Me­lissa (Brandon) Williams of Muscle Shoals and Lucas (Chelsea) Wassner of Flor­ence. She had four grand­children- Emmaline Was­sner, Woodrow Wassner, Miller Williams and Oliver Williams. Becky Saint was her incredibly supportive sister and Mike Miller was her baby brother. Their children and their chil­dren’s children were another source of pride and joy. She also had a number of crazy, wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins in Mississippi. One of them, Rev. Chuck Herring will officiate her funeral.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Williams, Lee Artz, Andy Snipes, Thom­as Martin, Jamie Alex­ander, Bobby Rutledge.

A sincere “Thank You” to all her friends, neighbors and family who supported her through her health is­sues. Thank you to Nurse Kayla and the doctors and staff at Helen Keller who tried so valiantly to help her get well. We, the fam­ily, take comfort knowing she is in a better place… still watching over us.
