Roberson, 60

Sharon Jean Roberson, 60, of Florence, passed away on Friday, Septem­ber 13, 2024. Visitation will be Tuesday, Septem­ber 17, 2024 from 11:00-12:00 at Morrison Funeral Home in Florence. A fu­neral service will immedi­ately follow in the funeral home chapel with James Senn officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cit­ies Memorial Gardens.

Sharon was a native and life-long resident of Flor­ence. She was a loving wife, mother, and Nana and enjoyed hosting par­ties, especially for Hal­loween. She was preceded in death by her parents, L.C. and Alberta Graves; and siblings, Gary Graves, Brenda Purser, Rebecca Bates, and Terry Graves.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Gary Roberson; children, Melissa Aday (Daniel) and Zachery Roberson; grandchildren, Blake, Kahne, Lila, Braydee, Rowan, and Paisley Jean; siblings, Helen Walker (Eddie), Linda Keeton (Jimmy), Janice Hendon, and Lisa May (Sam).

Pallbearers will be Daniel Aday, Zachery Roberson, Blake Hens­ley, Kahne Talley, Sam May, and Shane Spillers.

Myrtle Ann

Dossey, 81

Myrtle Ann Dossey, 81, of Muscle Shoals, passed away on Wednes­day, September 11, 2024. There will be a graveside service for Ann on Sun­day, September 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Shaw Cemetery with Bruce Blankenship officiating.

Ann was a Colbert County native. She loved to travel, and She and James David traveled the world together. She dearly loved her dachshunds. She was preceded in death by her husband, James David Dossey; parents, Grant and Wilhelmina Tay­lor; sister, Doris Taylor Weems; granddaughter, Margorie Kimbrough; and great-grandson, Cash Vickery.

Ann is survived by her son, Eric James Dossey (Tammy); grandchildren, William James Ray Kim­brough, Robert E. Jones, Jr., Calena M. Jones, and Courtney H. Vickery (Randall); great-grand­children, Claire and Colt Vickery; numerous oth­er great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and neph­ews; and her pet dog, Blu.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Lucille Hall

Hooper, 96

Lucille Hall Hooper, 96, Tuscumbia, passed away on Monday, Sep­tember 9, 2024. A grave­side service will be held on Wednesday, Sep­tember 11, at Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Lucille was a retired em­ployee of TVA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Hooper.

Lucille is survived by her children, Kathie Pretty, Barbara Keenum (Mike), Joyce Cole, and Danny Hooper (Cindy); grandchildren, Kristina Simpson (Nick), Jamie Hanks (Jonathan), Dan­iel Pitts, Sarah Hoop­er, Erin Hooper, Tonya Kelly, Rachel Boching (Craig), and Clay Kel­ly (Lolita); and numer­ous great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

James C. “Chuck” Myers, 70

James C. “Chuck” My­ers, Jr., 70, Tuscumbia, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 28, at the Cowboy Church of Colbert County, begin­ning at 3:00 p.m. with Tru­man Sutton officiating.

Chuck was a veteran of the US Air Force. He lived most of his life in Jones­boro, AR, and, after retire­ment, moved to the Shoals area. Chuck was a mem­ber of the Cowboy Church of Colbert County. He was also a member of the Flor­ence Senior Citizens Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Edith Myers; and sis­ters, Judy K. Myers and Kerri Myers Lawrence.

James is survived by his partner, Faye McKelroy; children, Wendy Jines (Ancel), Kerry Reeves (Jimmy), and Jason Myers (Jennifer); brother, Mi­chael Myers; sister, Wen­dy Grandlienard (Eric); grandchildren, Ariel King, Crae Lunsford, Dako­da Reeves, and Montana Reeves; great-grandchil­dren, Zane Lunsford, Av­erie Poff, Noah Reeves, and Jack Lunsford; and several nieces, neph­ews, and cousins.

James Randall Michael, 73

James Randall Michael, 73, of Tuscumbia, AL, made his transition to heaven on Monday, Sep­tember 9, 2024. His visi­tation will be Wednesday, September 11, from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at Morrison Fu­neral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Greg Woodall officiating. Interment will be in Bar­ton Cemetery, Cherokee.

For the past 4 years, Randall spent his days at home after surviving 222 days in the hospital from Covid. Doctors declared he was at death’s door time after time, yet Ran­dall proved the power of never giving up. And he fought with every thing inside of him up until he took his last breath.

Randall was known for his huge heart to help oth­ers. He was always will­ing to give of himself to help anyone in need. He served as a proud mem­ber of the US NAVY and loved his country.

Randall accepted the call to preach the gospel at an older age, and faith­fully lived out that calling no matter if it was behind a pulpit or working on a car. He used his business that he founded, Ran­dall’s Collision Center, to not just fix broken ve­hicles, but he used every opportunity to also help fix broken hearts that may walk through his doors.

Randall loved his fam­ily more than anything. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Kathy Mi­chael. She was his world and the love of his life. He loved her up until he took his last breath. He also leaves behind his daughters, Stacy Fulton (Ron) and Christie Ezell (Gerald). His daughters were the apple of his eye, and he loved them well.

He leaves behind three grandsons, Jeremiah Ful­ton, Charlie Fulton (Me­gan) and Taylor Fulton (Lindsey), along with two grand-daughters, Hanna Kelsoe (Ethan) and Carly Ezell (Brody).

He also is survived by his sisters, Diane Rich­ardson, Janice Davis (Keith) and Pat Reece; and his brothers, Jerry Michael, Jack Michael (Pam). There are also lots of nieces, nephews, cous­ins and special friends.

Randall was preced­ed in death by his par­ents, Buford and Bera Michael; brother, Den­nis Michael; and sis­ter, Debbie Bradford.

Pallbearers will be Ron Fulton, Gerald Ezell, Jeremiah Fulton, Char­lie Fulton, Taylor Ful­ton, Ethan Kelsoe, and Brody Dexter. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Michael, Jeffrey Small­wood, and Jimmy Quick.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the staff of Gentiva Hospice. They would like to especially thank one of the nurses (Michelle) for the way she became personally invested in their lives and loved their dad so well.

They would also like to thank everyone who has prayed for Ran­dall and their family these past few years.

Janice Sue

Behel, 67

Janice Sue Behel, 67, Tuscumbia, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Virginia Borden; brothers, Timmy Borden and Anthony Bor­den; sister, June Borden; husband Erwin Corban; and great-granddaugh­ter, Aubrey Thompson.

She is survived by her children, Stephanie Christensen (Charles), Michele Thompson (Ja­son), and Stephen Be­hel; brothers, Kenneth Borden, Johnny Borden, and Brent Borden; sis­ters, Brenda Walker and Regina “Nena” Borden; grandchildren, Gabriel­la Behel, Charles Chris­tensen, Breanna Thomp­son, Joseph Thompson, James “JT” Thompson, William Thompson, Kinzley Behel, and Jace Behel; great-grandsons, Eli Hardy and Marshall Hardy; and the father of her children, Glen Behel.

James Michael Spencer, 78

James Michael Spencer age 78, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama passed away Fri­day September 13, 2024. Visitation will be Mon­day September 16, 2024 from 5:00pm-8:00pm, at Colbert Memorial Chap­el. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 2:00pm in our chapel Bro. Truman Sutton will be Officiat­ing the service. A private burial will be in Col­bert Memorial Gardens.

James was a member of Cowboy Church of Col­bert County. He loved fishing, Alabama football and spending time with his family. His greatest love was his wife Shir­ley, she was the love of his life for 53 years and 5 months, and his great­est blessing his Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

He was born in Ben­nington, Vermont on Au­gust,9,1946. He gradu­ated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School, Long Beach CA in 1964 and served in the U.S. Army, from July 1964 to July 1967. He retired from Southern/ Nor­folk Southern Railway on Dec 31,2007 with 38 ½ years’ service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Spencer, Parents James F. Spencer and Virginia Wright, brothers Dick Hol­lister and Terry Spencer.

He is survived by his son, Michael Spencer (Wendy), daughter, Mi­chelle Anglin (Scott), grandchildren, Austin Campbell (Somer), Mi­caela Hatton (Hunter), Noah Campbell, Madison Campbell, Braden Spen­cer, Ashleigh Spencer, Chris Miller (Zaidalis), Jacob Miller and Hannah Miller, Great grandchil­dren, Moxley Campbell, Brayden Miller, Selena Miller, Maddie Young, Creek Hatton and broth­er Bill Hollister (Yoko), sisters, Cindy Ware and Vicki Spencer, sister-in-law Diane Bevis, broth­er-in-law, Danny Watkins (Paula) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be: Austin Campbell, Noah Campbell, Braden Spencer, David Bailey, Danny Watkins, Dan­iel Watkins. Honor­ary will be Bill Dalton.

Rex Keith

Johnson, 63

Rex K. Johnson, 63, of Tuscumbia, AL passed away on September 7, 2024. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sep­tember 11, 2024 from 1-2 at Colbert Memori­al Chapel with a service to follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Ron Perry and Ian Butler will be offi­ciating. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tru­man and Wanda Johnson; brother, Max Johnson; sisters, Karen Johnson and Jill Mansell; first wife, Melinda Johnson.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca John­son; son, Jesse Johnson (Amanda); daughters, Stephanie Alexander and Julie Campbell (Mi­chael); grandchildren, Connor Johnson, Kylee Johnson, Amberlee Alex­ander (Beautiful), Ellie Anna Campbell, and Ev­erett Campbell; numer­ous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be James Holt, Don Is­bell, Larry James, Brad James, Bill Sieben­thal, and Jacob Austin.

Honorary pallbear­ers, Jimmy Hovater and Puncho Hamm.

Ian Harrison Dodge, 44

Ian Harrison Dodge, 44, Sheffield, passed away on Sunday, Septem­ber 8, 2024. No services will be held at this time.

Ian was a veteran of the US Army, serving two tours in Iraq. He worked as a facility administrator of DaVita Dialysis. Ian was an Auburn Football fan and enjoyed being out on the water, but he espe­cially enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He was preceded by his paternal grandparents, Russ and Nancy Dodge.

Ian is survived by his wife, Kelly Thomas; children, Braxton Thom­as Dodge, Greyson Riv­ers Dodge, and Charlee Elizabeth Dodge; father, Kevin Lee Dodge; mother and stepfather, Vivan and Danny Hugh Polk; sis­ters, Maggi Polk, Danielle Hale (Seth), and Kassie Dollar (Adam); maternal grandparents, Wayne and Faye Holmes; parents-in-law, Billy and Janet Thomas; and nieces and nephews, Flether Hale, Grafton and Leighton Dol­lar, and Brodie, Ramzie, and Kovie Thomas.

Gayla Andre Hall Murillo, 63

Gayla Andre Hall Mu­rillo, 63, New Market, passed away peacefully in the hospital surrounded by her immediate family on Sunday, September 8, 2024. Visitation will be Sunday, September 15, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediate­ly follow in the funeral home chapel with Dan­iel Dulaney and Daniel Francis officiating. Inter­ment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Town Creek.

A native of the Shoals area, Gayla graduated from Deshler High School, then went on to attend Athens State and Alabama A&M University, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Education. She spent years as a beloved teacher, retiring from Lee High School. Gayla had a strong faith in God and fought the Good Fight of faith, never giving up. She was an inspiration to her family and to her students. She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Hall.

Gayla is survived by her daughter, Autumn Murillo Jackson (Gregory); moth­er, Carole Gelene Terry Hall; sisters, Terri Hall (Ronnie Joe), Karla Bea Hall, and Vanessa Terry Francis (who was in real­ity a cousin, but was ap­pointed by God a sister at heart); granddaughter, Isabella Grace Jackson; nieces and nephews, Can­di Hall, Casey Hall, Whit­ney Francis, Daniel Fran­cis, Jonathan Hall, Kyson Hall, Nevaeh Aldeir, and Harmony Beaver; and other special family members, Marilyn Ter­ry, Natasha Talbot, Mitch Montgomery, Carlene Ridgeway, Andy Terry, Charlotte, Terry Sommers­by, Paula Terry Smith, Chuck Terry, Nancy Gra­ham, and Byron Terry.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Merilyn Ann Smith Slatton, 77

Merilyn Ann Smith Slatton, 77, of Tuscumbia, died Saturday, September 7, 2024. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 11, from 11:00 a.m. un­til 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscum­bia. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chap­el with Dr. Barry Fleming officiating. Interment will be in Pisgah Cemetery.

Born on July 26, 1947 to Vernon and Louise Grimes Smith, in Lau­derdale County, Merilyn Ann was the oldest of six children. She gradu­ated from Central High School in 1967. On No­vember 5, 1971 Meri­lyn married Henry Boyd Slatton. They moved to Colbert County and built a life together. Mrs. Slat­ton was preceded in death by her aforementioned husband and parents, as well as brothers Mere­dith and Aubrey Smith.

Survivors include daughter, Sharon Thom­ason (Greg); son, Jeffery Slatton (Ashley); grand­sons, Shannon Camp­bell and Alex Campbell (Gayla); great grandchil­dren, Willa Campbell, Zeke Campbell, and Ca­sey Campbell; siblings, Jimmy Smith (Shirley), Ellis Smith, and Au­drey Weeks; and a host of nieces, nephews, oth­er relatives, and friends.

Pallbearers will be John Futrell, Nic Stell, Shawn Smith, Patrick Smith, Bil­ly Smith, and Jerry Hayes.

Mary Demetra Hollis, 88, of Muscle Shoals, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Her fu­neral will be Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 11am at Colbert Memori­al Chapel. A private buri­al will take place in Col­bert Memorial Gardens.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Glyn Hollis; and parents, Hub­bard H. and Alton Smith.

Demetra is survived by her daughter, Mela­nie Hollis Vest (Jimmy); grandchildren, Jenny Ann Vest, Justin Tyler Vest (Alyssa), and Jimmy Ray Vest III (Jade); great granddaughter, Gracelynn Bullock; and sister, Hil­da Durdunji (Hisham).

She was a member of Tri Cities Church of Christ.
