Noah Edward Underwood, 76
Noah Edward Underwood, 76, Tuscumbia, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Visitation will be Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at his home, 4465 Old Highway 20, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Valley Grove Baptist Church, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery, Leighton.
Ed was a life-long member of Valley Grove Baptist Church and a veteran of the US National Guard. Until his retirement in 2017, he worked in the agricultural industry as a John Deere dealer and a farmer for over fifty years. He also served on the board of directors for Trigreen Equipment and was a charter board member of First Metro Bank. He enjoyed spending time with a host of friends and family. Recounting stories of his childhood memories and more recent adventures with friends would sometimes make him laugh until he cried. One of his favorite titles was “Papa” because he took great pride in advising and loving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a devoted husband and father, always a source of stability and encouragement. The absence of his unconditional love, quick wit, and guidance will leave a void in their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Alma Underwood; grandson, William Andrew Sharp; and siblings, Alice Jo Duke, Billy Underwood, and Jerry Underwood.
Until her recent passing, Ed was survived by his wife, Carol McGee Underwood; children, Mike Underwood, Dana Lindsey (Brian), Myra Sharp (Doug), and Monica Underwood; brother, Wayne Underwood; sister, Barbara Underwood Young; grandchildren, Myles Underwood, Mallory Underwood, Caroline Lindsey, Meredith Lindsey, Ashlyn Upshaw (James), Emilee Broschinski (Josh), Braden Barnes (Lanigan), and Abby Barnes; and great-grandchildren, Norah Upshaw, Liam Upshaw, and Elliott Broschinski.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Howard, Jimmy Hughston, McCoy Underwood, Larry Lee Underwood, Richard Lee Hampton, Jim Brumley, Braden Barnes, and Myles Underwood. Honorary pallbearers will be King Streater, Junior Samano, Josh Broschinski, James Upshaw, John Trousdale, Jackson Conner, and Logan Smothers.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Junior, Julia, and Damian Samano; Amedisys Hospice; Tammy Sanders; and Jenn Stokes for their extra special care and support. They would also like to thank Linda Hollaway for her loyalty to him, their family, and his business.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saddle Up for St. Jude, 121 East Sixth Street, Tuscumbia, AL 35674.

Connie Sue Thompson
Inman, 72
Connie Sue Thompson Inman, age 72, Cherokee, unexpectedly left this life to meet her Jesus face to face on Sunday morning, June 9, 2024. She is the beloved wife of Tony Inman; much adored mother of Tony, Mike (Kristy), and John (Angela); cherished Mawmaw of Justin Inman, Ben Inman (Bailey), Katie Inman, Austin Vandiver, Haley Inman, Ashlee Inman (fiancé’ Gavin), and the late Ben Braley. She is the greatest Mawmaw Chick-chick to Emma, Rhett, Adeline, Ne’lccia, Mary Michael, Mar’kisen and one on the way! She is the dear sister to Stevie Thompson, Gary Thompson and the late Rusty Thompson and Diane Thompson. She is the daughter of the late C.R. and Betty Thompson. Connie was born on January 8, 1952, and was a Barton girl through and through.
She attended and graduated from Cherokee High School where she was a majorette and met her “Sugar”, Tony. They celebrated 54 years of marriage this past week. She completed her education by attending Nursing school, which was fitting for her nurturing servant heart. She worked as a nurse for Rudy’s Farm, Wise and Navistar before her retirement.
She was a one-of-a–kind boy mom! She loved her three sons unconditionally and raised them into wonderful men. She was a blessing as a mother-in-law. Her heart was full of love for her grandbabies. She cherished holding them close on her lap and in her arms. There was no better place for those babies to feel safe and take a nap. She has watched them grow into amazing adults. Her latest season of life has given her the great grands and they were her pride and joy!
She was a member of Hampton Heights Baptist church where she was a Sunday School teacher, VBS volunteer and member of the choir. She loved her Pre-K babies more than words.
She loved Jesus, her family, her church, studying her Bible, sewing, crafting, painting, singing, and sleepovers with her cousins. She leaves behind a rich legacy of love for all of us to treasure. Her life was an example of a Proverbs 31 woman. “An excellent wife, who can find? She is far more precious than jewels…her children rise up and call her blessed.”
Please join us in celebrating this beautiful soul on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. and funeral begins at 1:00 at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, with Jeremy Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow at Barton Cemetery. She was a selfless wife and mother, always willing to take care of others before herself. They will miss her baked beans, macaroni and cheese, Game Show Network enthusiasm, conversations with endless questions, and passion for riding shotgun, but most of all, they will miss her warmth and unconditional love.
