Barbara Faye Simpson Pennington, 87
Barbara Faye Simpson Pennington, 87, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2022. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 22, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Ben Hayes officiating. Interment will be in Old Brick Cemetery, Leighton.
Barbara was a member of Highland Park Church of Christ. She was a teacher with Sheffield City Schools for 29 ½ years and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Pennington; parents, John and Imogene Simpson; sister Wynelle Bolton; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Janie Simpson.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Michele Reaves (Sanford) and Stacy Hughes (Lang); brother, Randy Simpson (Doris); sister, Peggy Napier; brother-in-law, Billy Bolton; grandchildren, Alec Pennington, Jennifer Reaves, Mallory Reaves, and Anna Grace Hughes; great-grandchildren, Daniel Fuller, Mattie Fuller, and Lucy Ann Bailey; special friend, Joyce Rose; special niece, Misty Campbell; and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Sanford Reaves, Lang Hughes, Alec Pennington, Tyrus Mansell, Bubba Underwood, and Chris Underwood.
The family would like to thank Hospice of North Alabama; special friend and caregiver, Machelle Williams; and the other special caregivers that have been so loving and kind to her in her last years. Special recognition goes to the staff of Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home.
Judy Arlene Lewis, 63
Judy Arlene Lewis, 63, Tuscumbia, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Visitation will be Sunday, May 19, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Doug Farris officiating. Interment will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens, Tuscumbia.
Judy was a member of the Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing at the Little Ryman and loved to go fishing and hunting with her husband, Steve. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas James “Pete” Ballew and Betty Jane Ballew.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of twenty-six years, Steve Lewis; daughters, Ashley Brown (Brad), Stefanie Lewis, and Courtney Kelly; brothers, Steve Ballew (Sandy) and Drake Ballew; grandchildren, Lexi Ginevan, Kaley Ginevan, Will Kelly, and Avery Kelly; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brad Brown, Will Kelly, Charlie Lewis, and Drake, Jarvis, Benjamin, Wesley, and Joseph Ballew.
The family offers special thanks to the staff of Keller Landing, especially Morgan.
Aileen Coosenberry, 68
Aileen Coosenberry, 68, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. There will be a graveside service Saturday, May 18, at Glendale Cemetery, Leighton, beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Steve Smallwood officiating.
Aileen was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Coosenberry; parents, Buddy and Florine Landers; brothers, Wade, Buddy Ray, and Dale Landers; and sisters, Wanda Jones and Ann Jones.
Aileen is survived by her sons, Lynn Coosenberry (Christy) and Joe Coosenberry (Crystal); sister, Kay Dickerson; grandchildren, Lauren Mills, Gage Coosenberry (Kaitlin), Hannah Coosenberry, and Dakota Coosenberry (Autum); g r e a t – g r a n d d a u g h t e r on the way, Blaire Coosenberry; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Coosenberry, Joe Coosenberry, Gage Coosenberry, Dakota Coosenberry, Danny Franks, James Franks, and Conner Settlemires.
The family offers special thanks to the staff of Affinity Hospice, especially Katie Holt, Tiara Rutland, Brittney McGee, and Tori Franks; and to Aileen’s niece and caregiver, Tina Burleson.

Myrtle Mae Flanagan, 77, Tuscumbia, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. Visitation will be Thursday, May 16, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Friday, May 17, in the funeral home chapel beginning at 11:00 a.m., with Jacob Willingham officiating. Interment will be in Limerock Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Myrtle was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time outdoors tending her flowers in her garden, and she loved animals. She was preceded in death by her parents, W.M. and Pearl Zills; and brothers, Ross Zills, Davis Zills, Horace Zills, Bobby Zills, Carl Zills, Ray Zills, Tommy Zills, and Walter Zills.
Myrtle is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Bonnie Flanagan; daughter, Delinda Lasseter; brother, Stanley Zills; sister, Brenda Smallwood; grandchildren, Whitni Hollimon (Tim) and Jarrod Lasseter; and great-grandchildren, Vera Hollimon and Ryleigh Hollimon.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
