Caperton’s Guns, Ammo & Knives open for business in Sheffield

There may not be a new sheriff in town, but Sheffield does have a new gun store open for business.

Caperton’s Guns, Ammo & Knives held a grand opening Saturday, Jan. 31, at 2915 N Jackson Highway.

The store posted to social media that many people attended the event, which featured six gun giveaways.

“What a weekend! Huge thank you to all the support from our Shoals community and our traveling crowd as well,” said the store on Facebook. “We had customers from Huntsville all the way down to Birmingham and Montgomery, plus folks from Tennessee and Mississippi. Even with single-digit wind chills, y’all showed up — and we truly appreciate it more than you know.

“Big thanks to Smashed Burger and 105.5 The Big Dog for being part of the event.”

Mayor Bryan Van Devender and City Council members John Webb, Ethan Stokes and Carol Cooney were among the visitors on hand to help Caperton’s cut the ribbon and kick off the celebration.

Caperton’s said the support is truly appreciated.

“I want to thank everybody for coming out today,” said Nick Franks. “It was a huge success. We really appreciate everybody showing up. We had 700 to 800 people today. That’s a great win for the community and for us.”
