Betty Speegle Aday, 79

Betty Speegle Aday, 79, of Cherokee, passed away on August 29, 2025. Vis­itation will be Monday, September 1, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee. The funeral service will be Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Greg Cor­ble officiating. Burial will follow in Barton Cemetery.

Betty was a native and life long resident of Col­bert County and a member of Shoals Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bil­ly Wayne Aday; son, Len Aday; her parents, three brothers, and three sisters; son-in-law, Melvin Nix; and grandchildren, Matthew Nix and William Strickland.

Betty is survived by her children, Jeff Aday (Chelle), Barry Aday, Amy Aday Ri­kard, Betsy Strickland (Ed­die), Stephanie Ponder, and Steven Aday (Teresa); sister, Sharon Michael; grandchil­dren, Jordan Aday (Bailey), Kinsley Cole Smith (Jake), Savanna Cole (Dakota), Anthony Aday (Melodie), Jason Aday, Corey Aday, Tiffany Wise, Jamie Strick­land, Tyler Strickland, and Melissa Nix; and great grandchildren, Abigail Van­diver (Bradley), Karleigh Aday (Jay), Blake Aday (Kaylee), Hunter Strick­land, Kaylee Strickland, Aaliyah Strickland, Ted­dy Lee; and a number of great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Jordan Aday, Blake Aday, Anthony Aday, Jamie Strickland, Jay Foster, and Dakota Patterson.

The family expresses spe­cial thanks to Betty’s special niece, Debbie Thompson and Enhabit Hospice for all of their care for Betty.

Stevenson, 34

Cory Lynn Stevenson, 34, of Florence, passed away, Saturday, August 30, 2025. Visitation will be Wednes­day, September 3, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. until Noon at Morrison Funeral Home, Central Heights . The funeral service will follow with Jeff Tingle officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah Cemetery.

He had a talent for sing­ing and playing the guitar. Cory was preceded in death by his mother, Susie Ste­venson; father, Terry Lynn Clemons; son, Archie Ste­venson; and Papa Buddy.

Cory is survived by his grandparents, Margie and Johnny Pigg and Mary Sue Edwards; girlfriend, Au­tumn West; child, Liam West; brothers, Skylar Mur­phy, Terry Lynn Clemons, and Brandon Stevenson; sis­ters, Tierra Harris and Lacy Daughtery; numerous cous­ins; and several close friends.

Pallbearers will be Brad­ley Kelley, Lee Carmack, Kevin Scott, Jeremy Haith­coat, Levi Nicholls, and Rusty Mills. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cac­ey Crowell, Larry Clem­ons, and Joe Clemons.

Carlos “Bud” Osborne, 62

Carlos “Bud” Osborne, age 62, passed away at his home in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. He was born on April 29, 1963, in Monroe Center, Illinois. There will be a celebration of Life scheduled at a later date.

Bud is survived by his children, Shawn (Dani) Osborne of Rockford, IL, and Deanna Osborne of Tuscumbia, AL; his step­children, Deidra Fiedler of Muscle Shoals, AL, and Leanna Fiedler of WI; his sister Nancy Miller; brothers Melvin Osborne, Roger Os­borne, and Steve Osborne; his beloved grandchildren, Samantha Osborne, Hai­ley Lynn, Marley Osborne, Ta’Leah Thompson, Justin Ritter, Kaylee Fiedler, Am­ari Fiedler, Calahni Fiedler, and Elianna Fiedler; his girl­friend Lori Fiedler; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Cline and Gladys Jean (Crider) Os­borne; sisters, Debbie John­son and Merry Osborne; and his grandson, Isaac Osborne.

Bud was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was known for his big heart, his sense of humor, and his unwav­ering love for his family. Those who knew him will remember his quiet strength, warm spirit, and the joy he found in being surround­ed by those he loved most.

William “Bill” Henson, 78

William “Bill” Henson, age 78, of Tuscumbia, Ala­bama, was born January 8, 1947, and passed away on August 25, 2025, at North Alabama Medical Center.

Visitation will be Thurs­day, August 28, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Mor­rison Funeral Home, Tus­cumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Greg Pace and Dylan Chandler officiating. In­terment will be in Henson Cemetery, Colbert Heights.

Bill proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. After his service, he dedicated over 30 years to JK John­son before retiring, though his strong work ethic and love for his craft kept him welding until his final days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Louise Henson.

Bill is survived by his loving sister, Susan Chan­dler (A.W. “Skillet”); nephew, Eric Chandler (Amanda); great-neph­ews, Austin (Kati), Dylan (Morgan), Braden and Colton; great-great-neph­ew, Ripp; and great-great-nieces, Charlee and Kylin.

Pallbearers will be Colton Chandler, Dylan Chandler, Braden McCaig, Austin McCaig, Jeff Henson, Seth Henson and honorary Pall­bearer Edward Riner, Tony Holland and Ripp McCaig.

Bill will be remembered for his dedication, his hard­working spirit, and the love he had for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Eady, 85

Mary Faye Eady, 85, Mus­cle Shoals, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Visitation will be Friday, August 29, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Fu­neral Home, Tuscumbia. A graveside service will follow at Colbert Memori­al Gardens, Tuscumbia, be­ginning at 11:30 a.m. with Bubba Cole officiating.

Mary was a member of Redemption Shoals Church (formerly Highland Park Baptist Church). She en­joyed cooking, serving others, and football. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvis and Ila Pearson; brothers, Irby Pearson and Arvis Pear­son; nephews, Kenny Pear­son and Dewayne Pearson; and niece Teresa Pearson.

Mary is survived by her nephews, Jimmy Pear­son (Susan), Terry Pear­son (Gina), and Michael Pearson (Jan); and niece, Brenda Warhurst (Tony).

Pallbearers will be Tom­my Whitehead, Jimmy Pearson, Terry Pearson, Eli Pearson, Chad Pettus, and Nick Pearson. Terrell Webb, Lloyd Baker, and Lester Cunningham will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mary “Jenell” Thorn

Overton, 96

Mary “Jenell” Thorn Overton, 96, of Cherokee, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Au­gust 27, 2025. Visitation will be Sunday, August 31, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Morrison’s Funeral Home, Cherokee, AL. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 1, at the Maud Church of Christ, Chero­kee, AL. Interment will fol­low at the Mynot Cemetery.

Jenell was an indepen­dent, hard-working woman with a sassy quick wit. She was a lifelong resident of the Maud/Mynot community, a diligent bible student and a faithful member of the Maud Church of Christ. She loved cooking, canning, bak­ing, gardening, yard work, games, daily walks with her best friend Judy, outings with her Red Hat group, and especially the “Mon­day Bunch” ramblings. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand­mother, and friend.

Jenell was preceded in death by her husband, Thel­ton “Salty” Overton; father, Owen Thorn; mother, Cora Waddle Thorn; and sister, Dorothy Thorn Blackburn.

She is survived by her son, Harold Overton and wife Sue; granddaughters, Gina Miller and husband Keary; Jenifer Buller and husband Kurt; great-grand­children, Ian Miller, Drew Buller, Kearsten Mill­er, and Brock Buller; and niece Sandra John­son and husband Sammy.

Pallbearers will be the grandchildren as­sisted by Jacob Sparks and Casey Durham.

In lieu of flowers, make memorial contributions to the Pinevale Christian Children’s Home, Corinth, MS, or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff of Barton House Memory Care As­sisted Living facility whose love and compassionate care made Jenell’s last cou­ple of years a blessing.

Francis “Mac” McBride, 81

Francis “Mac” McBride, a devoted father, grandfa­ther, brother, and cherished community figure, passed away peacefully in Ala­bama on August 29, 2025, at the age of 81. No services are scheduled at this time.

Born in Rockledge, Flor­ida, Mac was destined for a life of service. With deep family roots in law enforce­ment and military policing, he began his career at Sher­wood Medical Industries before joining the DeLand Police Department in 1975. Over the next 45 years, Mac became a beloved fixture in Downtown DeLand, known for his daily patrols, warm greetings, and unwaver­ing dedication to the safe­ty and well-being of local residents and merchants.

Mac pioneered commu­nity policing through his “Night Eyes” program, per­sonally checking storefronts and leaving notes to assure business owners their prop­erties were secure. His pres­ence brought comfort and connection, earning him the admiration of generations of officers and the gratitude of the community he served.

He is survived by his chil­dren, Troy, Tanya, Todd, and Travis; his four grandchil­dren; and his brother, Stuart McBride. His family was his greatest joy, and his legacy of kindness and service will live on in their hearts and in the city he helped shape.

Commander Francis “Mac” McBride will be deeply missed, but his spir­it endures in every cor­ner of Downtown Deland, where his care and com­passion left a lasting mark.

James Kenneth Angel, 76

James Kenneth Angel, 76 of Cloverdale, passed away peacefully in his home Saturday, August 30, 2025. The graveside service will be Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 2:00 pm in Pisgah Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Dwayne McDuff officiating.

Kenneth lived all his life in Cloverdale. He was a gradu­ate of Central High School and UNA. He was a retired educator with the Lauder­dale County School System. He also served in the Na­tional Guard for seven years.

Kenneth loved working on his farm with his trac­tor and animals. He loved and cherished his time with his two grandchil­dren. Kenneth believed in God’s grace and goodness.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Angel; his sons, Steven and Josh Angel; his daughter, Jennifer An­gel Kerby and her husband Jeremy; his grandchildren, Chandler Brooks Kerby and Charlee Kate Kerby; his sis­ter-in-law, Carolyn Angel; his sisters, Pearlene Creasy, Wanda Smith (Kenny) and Connie Brown (Joel).

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bertha Angel; his broth­er and sister-in-law, Roy Angel (Bobbie); his brother, Ray Angel; and his broth­er-in-law, Charlie Creasy.

Pallbearers will be Mike Angel, Mark An­gel, Sam Black, Jeremy Kerby, Chandler Ker­by, and Shannon Shook.

Honorary pallbear­er will be Hunter Smith.

William Henry Castle, 82

William “Bill” Castle, born on August 29, 1942 passed away peacefully on Wednesday. August 27, 2025. Bill was a very lov­ing and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 10-11 a.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a ser­vice to follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Bro. John Brock and Bro. Seth Hood will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

He was a member of First Baptist Church Colbert Heights. Bill was a mem­ber of the PGA since 1981.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Debbie Castle; sons, Danny (Gentry) Cas­tle and David (Tonia) Cas­tle; daughter, Laura (Rod­ney) Bryant; grandchildren, Brittany (Coty) Johnson, Alexis (Jacob) Tucker, Kyla Castle, Kaylee (Hunt­er) Bryant, Austin Castle, Dakota Castle, Mason Bry­ant, and Dominick Castle; six great grandchildren; brother, Charlie Castle, and sister, Ruth Sanders.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Coe Castle, and broth­er-in-law, Jim Sanders.

Vivian Robbins Box, 99, Tuscumbia, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Visitation will be Sunday, August 31, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Fu­neral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Thomas Sneed officiating. Interment will be in Oak­wood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Vivian was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Box; parents, Honoval and Docia Robbins; broth­ers, Howard Robbins and Dalton Robbins; and sis­ters, Mellie Smith, Ruth Mooney, and Laura Doles.

Vivian is survived by nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Roxie Linam; sister, Joann Johnson; brothers, Lloyd Linam and Harold Linam.

Jack is survived by his wife, Barbara Linam; daugh­ter, Rebecca Massey (Bob); and sister, Nancy White.

John Blaine Ledlow, 62, of Tuscumbia, died peace­fully at home after an ex­tended illness. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia with the funeral service following at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jeff New­ton officiating. Burial will follow in Byrd Cemetery.

John was a native and lifelong resident of Tus­cumbia. He graduated from Deshler High School in 1981, worked in Nash­ville, Tennessee at Opry­land Hotel until he retired in 2018/2019, and was an avid Alabama Football fan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Ledlow and father, Pruitt Ledlow.

John is survived by his daughter, Nikki Ledlow (Katie) of Hartselle; broth­er, Tim Ledlow (Debra) of Decatur; grandchildren, Jennifer Ryan and James Clark; cousins, Ann James, Ray James, Joe James, W.C. James, Shelia Ledlow, Dale Ledlow, Steve Ledlow, Jim­my Ledlow; niece, Christie Ledlow (David); and neph­ew, Tim Ledlow, Jr. (April).

Sue Howell Dowdell, 91

Sue Howell Dowdell, 91, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, passed away on August 31, 2025, after a brief illness, at Helen Keller Hospital in Tuscumbia, Alabama.

Born on November 6, 1933, in Henderson, Ten­nessee, Sue was the be­loved daughter of Albert Connie and Ouita Howell. She graduated from Jack­son High School and went on to dedicate her life to God, James B. Dowdell, Sr. her husband of 57 years, and her extensive family consisting of six children, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Sue was known for her angelic disposition, wis­dom in all matters of life, and unwavering faith in the Lord. She was dedicated to Christian service and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Tuscum­bia for over sixty years.

Sue is survived by her brothers, Charles Vann Howell and Bobby Joe Howell, and her children; Deborah Susan Gardner, Ben (spouse), Katherine Gifford (grandchild), Eric (spouse), Daniel and Kylie Ruth (great-grandchildren), James B. Carole Sue Burleson

Britton, 73

What a wonder­ful woman she was.

Carole Sue Burleson Britton.

Born December 13, 1951-August 31, 2025

She was mother to Bon­nie, Adam, Jamie, Eze­kiel; grandchildren she loved; and a lot of people she loved along the way.

After the birth of her fourth child, she returned to UNA and earned her nurs­ing degree and enjoyed her career of twenty-five years. She would serve in the Shoals, AL; Danbury and New Milford, CT; Braden­ton and Sarasota, FL areas.

She was a Christian ser­vant in her workplace, her home, the Church, and places and to people along the way. She was class in every aspect of her life.

She loved the Lord and his word. Among her educa­tion pursuits were a year at Abilene Christian Universi­ty studying the Bible. She served others. She loved the Bible; she loved the church. She served many congre­gations of God’s people. She did so with a loving and Christ like spirit. She taught many Bible class­es, and she lived the life.

Her family was close. She loved her sisters Don­na King and Andrea Palmer, her brother Monte, and Tina Burleson. Aaron was a spe­cial nephew. She was pre­ceded in death by her parents Don and Margaret Burleson and her brother Anthony. She would have been mar­ried 53 years November 3.

She had home health care and hospice the last four years. Thank each one of you for what you do. Her Medicare has covered ev­erything. These four years have been a special bless­ing in so many ways. Nurse Jamie has been a blessing to have serving her moth­er. And for those who have lived with her through these times Gene, Madison, Ja­mie, Russell, Zeke, and Kelsey special thoughts. And to all who loved her.

One blessing of go­ing on a journey as this is just to see how good, nice, and generous people are. If you are not part of a church, you should be.

A Memorial service will be held Thursday Septem­ber 4 at noon with visitation from 10:00 -12:00 Colbert Memorial Chapel. Dennis Jones will be officiating.

Crittenden, 77

Jerry Lee “Slick” Crit­tenden, 77, Leighton passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025. A private service will be held for the family with Chris Simmons officiating.

Slick was a native and lifelong resident of Colbert County. He loved being outdoors and was an avid horseman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Si­las and Virginia Crittenden; and niece Kellie Jo Burden.

Slick is survived by his loving wife of thirty-three years, Kathy W. Critten­den; daughter, Eugenia Howard; stepson, Adam Harrison (Meaghan); broth­er, Ronnie Davis; sisters, Jo Ann Burden (Thaniel) and Janie McAnalley (Dar­rell); and grandchildren, Makayla, Isabella, and JT.
