James Dwight Morgan, 80

James Dwight Morgan, 80, of Muscle Shoals, AL passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 12-2 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chap­el with a service to follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Dr. Chris Aday and Bro. Tyler Pendley will be officiat­ing. Burial will be in Glen­dale Cemetery, Leighton.

Dwight was a devot­ed husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law, and a great friend to many. He was a member of Nitrate City Baptist Church and served as a deacon for over forty years, a member of the Masonic Lodge #43 in Leighton, AL. Dwight was a member of Quad City Bikes and Trikes of North Ala­bama, former of GWRRA, having visited all 48 states in the continental U.S. and six provinces of Canada. He retired from Reynolds Metals after 37 years. He also served in the Army Na­tional Guard for six years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lew­is Morgan and Mattie Wal­lace; grandparents, Floyd and Mattie Lovelady.

He was survived by his wife of 55 years, Rebecca Morgan; sons, Scott Mor­gan (Shelly) and Jason Mor­gan (Uma); grandchildren, Hannah LeFan (Tyler) and Tyler Morgan; sisters, Caro­lyn Hale and Patsy Johnson (Steve); brothers, William “Red” Roberts and Revel “Buddy” Wallace (Lilly).

Pallbearers will be neph­ews, Ken Aday, Kelly Aday, Ryan Aday, Justin Aday, Noah Aday, and Gage Aday.

Billy Howard Aday, 84

Billy Howard Aday, 84, found himself in the pre­cious arms of his Lord and Savior on May 3, 2025. He was born and resided in Muscle Shoals, AL for 53 years, he lived in a home that he built himself. He was a devoted Christian and a member of Nitrate City Baptist Church. Visitation will be Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at Nitrate City Baptist Church with a service to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Col­bert Memorial Gardens.

Billy adored his girls, grandbabies, and great grandbabies with his whole heart. He was an avid sports fan, particularly Bama Football and Atlan­ta Braves, but he enjoyed watching his grandbabies play sports and dance. Es­pecially some of his favor­ite pastimes were searching for good yard sales and do­ing his “computer work”, aka scrolling Facebook.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Au­try and Margaret Aday; brother, Kenneth Aday; mother of children, Pau­lette Hetrick; and grand­daughter, Christina Louise.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Brackin Aday; daugh­ters, Melissa Vinson and Tr­ish Wright (Jeff); bonus son, Christian Hetrick (Mollie); granddaughter, Megan Pe­tersen (Monte); grandsons, Zach Vinson (Stacy) and Caleb McIntyre (Kendall); great grandchildren, Lynn­lee, Adilynn, Brycen, Jack­son, Louie, baby Bennett Howard, Keeton, and Noah; siblings, Raymond, Rebec­ca, and Chris; several niec­es and nephews, cherished friends and church family.

Thomas Wade Dugger, 66

Thomas Wade Dugger, 66, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Vis­itation will be Friday, May 9, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral ser­vice will immediately follow in the funeral home chap­el with Truman Sutton and Shane Swinney officiating. Interment will be in Oak­wood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Tom was a member of Cowboy Church of Colbert County. He was a retired railroad conductor with Nor­folk Southern Railroad. Tom loved traveling the world and spending time with his wife, Sheila. He loved play­ing his guitar and enjoyed music each day. Tom was a diehard Auburn fan. He had his own private pilot license and loved flying his plane. Tom also enjoyed restoring old cars. He was a member of the Corvette Club, the British Car Club, and Mus­cle Shoals Regional Antique Car Club of America. He had been making plans to purchase a Thunderbird this coming summer to go to car shows. Tom was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease seven years ago, and has been fighting so hard bat­tling the side effects. He was preceded in death by his fa­ther, Dr. Marshall Dugger, Jr. and mother, Agnes Dugger.

Tom is survived by his wife and best friend of thir­ty-four years, Sheila Dug­ger; daughter, Tara Hol­lis (Jerry); grandchildren, Alex, Elly, and Dominic Hollis; and brother, Mar­shall Dugger III (Karyn).

Pallbearers will be Mike Campbell, Tommy Camp­bell, Mark Campbell, Drew Aldridge, Dale “Gumby” Hooper, Sammy Wad­dell, Christopher Wright, and Brian Chandler. Mike Smith, Jerry Pridgen, Jeff Wright, Kevin Wright, and Ed Witt will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family offers sincere thanks to the Decatur Fire and Rescue and the Deca­tur Police Department; and to EMS Search and Res­cue teams from multiple states. Special recognition goes to Morgan Coun­ty Coroner, Jeff Chunn.

Tommy Waldrep, 78, Rus­sellville, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Vis­itation will be Monday, May 12, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral ser­vice will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Johnny Watson offici­ating. Interment will be in Shaw Cemetery, Leighton.

Tommy was preced­ed in death by his moth­er, Berta Waldrep; and son, Keith Waldrep.

He is survived by his children, Keeta Boston (Ronald), Kenny Waldrep (Tanya), Sondra Waldrep, Danielle McLennon (Krista), and Maggie Waldrep; sis­ters, Ann McPeters (George) and Sue Fearn; grandchil­dren, Gia Johnson, Justin Boston, Meagan Rainbolt, Josh Waldrep, and Zoey Ray McLennon; great-grand­children, Josie, Harlee, Livi Jo, John Charles, Jackson, Kayden, Braiden, Andri­ana, Malaky, Ali, Ambrose, and Natalia; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ken­ny Waldrep, Greg Hamm, Mark Hall, Roger Allen, Tony Colston, and Phillip Cole. José Guzman will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Green, 75

Richard “Dicky” Green, 75 of Tuscumbia, formerly of Sheffield, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025. Visi­tation will be Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. A graveside service will fol­low at 2:00 pm at Sheffield Oakwood cemetery with Larry Dover officiating.

Dicky is a member of Parkview Baptist Church and was a former member of the Kiwanis. He retired from the City of Sheffield and was an avid Alabama football fan.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Imo­gene Ivey Green; fa­ther, Grady Ray Green, daughter, Stacy Green; and numerous pet dogs.

Dicky is survived by his loving wife of 6 years, Judy Wilson Green; daughter, An­gelia Green Huddleston and her husband, Keith Mos­ley; sister, Tara MaLeigh Green; grandchildren, Gia Mitchell, Ben Mitchell, Kael Huddleston, and Tyler Mosley; great granddaugh­ter, Alissia Jane Marquez; and pet dogs, Jackson, Bo, Koda Bear, and Sallee.

Pallbearers will be Ben Mitchell, Kael Hud­dleston, Tyler Mosley, Keith Mosley, Randy Camp­bell, and Ervin Brown.

Helen Clark Smith, 82

Helen Clark Smith, 82, of Greenville, SC, peace­fully fell asleep in the Lord on May 1, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Hel­en Hodges Clark, her fa­ther, Warren Worthington Clark, and her brother, Warren “Rusty” Clark, Jr.

She is survived by her husband; Denby H. Smith; brother, Charles B. Clark (Cynthia); nephew Charles B. Clark, Jr.; cousin, Charles “Skippy” Hodges; daugh­ters, Shannon Murphy and Emily Cook (Ray); son, David Murphy (Susan); granddaughter, Ella Grace Cook, and grandsons, Jo­seph and John Murphy.

Helen was raised on the Tennessee River in the town of Sheffield, Alabama. She had a close group of friends from kindergarten through high school, and she attend­ed many class reunions for the SHS Class of 1961. Hel­en graduated from Queens College in 1965 and married Brian M. Murphy in 1966. After years of working in the home, Helen enjoyed a new-found career as a loan officer at Michelin Tire Corporation Federal Credit Union. At Michelin, she met her current husband, Denby Smith. They were married in September of 1997. After retiring from Michelin, she worked part-time at First Baptist Church of Greenville supporting their missions and pastoral care efforts.

Helen’s interests in retire­ment included taking classes in the OLLI program at Fur­man, beekeeping, working in her yard, and traveling to a variety of destinations, such as Japan, China, Ti­bet, the Holy Land, Por­tugal, France, Wales, and Greece. She and her hus­band Denby enjoyed travel­ing together and were active members of their church community at Christ Epis­copal Church in Greenville.

Helen’s family would like to express deep apprecia­tion for the wonderful care that she received during this last stage of her life. Special thanks to Dr. Paige Ganem, Dr. Michael Greenbaum, and Dr. Steven Allgood of Prisma. All the nurses and staff of Family Hospice in Greenville gave exception­ally compassionate care to Helen in her last days. There are many at Rolling Green Village in Greenville who also provided care and support for Helen and her family, including Sylvia, Mauda, Shannon, Tracey, Danielle, and Pam. All these good folks and many more have given selflessly to care for Helen and her family.

The funeral service will be on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. in the Markley Chapel at Christ Episcopal Church. A re­ception will follow until 6:00 p.m. Helen will be buried in Oakwood Ceme­tery in Sheffield, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, dona­tions may be made to the Project Host Partner Min­istry of Christ Episcopal Church or directly to the Project Host Soup Kitchen.

Spoon, 51

William Dewayne Spoon, 61, Sheffield, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. A private service will be held at a later date.

William was a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, and a fan of Alabama Football. He loved his family and es­pecially enjoyed spending time with his grandchil­dren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Shaver; and sisters, Katie Shelton and Bea Ledlow.

William is survived by his wife, of eighteen years, Kathy Spoon; children, Krystal Silvis (Ryan), Laura Gipson (Samuel), and Wil­liam Spoon II (Courtney); sister, Aline Gully; and grandchildren, Alexis For­sythe, Myra Stone, Alexan­dra Stone, Madison Stone, Clayton Silvis, Nathaniel Gipson, Ashley Stone, Lil­lian Gipson, William Sil­vis, Olivia Spoon, Journey Silvis, and Tucker Furline.

Carla Jeanette Terry, 46

Carla Jeanette Terry, age 46, of Muscle Shoals, passed away on May 2, 2025. Vis­itation will be at Williams Funeral Home on Saturday, May 10 from 12:00 – 2:00 pm with the service follow­ing at 2:00 pm in the chapel. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Terry; stepfather, Tom­my Manasco; and best friend, Tina Simmons.

Carla is survived by her son, Damion Vaughn (Han­nah); daughter, Dallas Mi­nor (Tyler); father, Freddie Conley; stepmother, Melissa Balentine; brother, Brandon Smith; and sister, Heather Conley. Additional survivors include her niece, April­la Starnes; grandchildren, Taylor Ann, Tyanna, Colton, Corbin, Achilles, Hayes, Emmett; and aunt, Syl.

Carla was an active mem­ber of Faith Church. She treasured every moment spent with her grandchil­dren and found great joy in their company. Carla also enjoyed traveling, danc­ing, and cooking. Plus, she was an Auburn Fan.

Linda Welborn Dodson, 76

Linda Welborn Dodson, 76, Sheffield, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 13, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Morrison Funer­al Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Wednesday, May 14, in the funeral home chapel, begin­ning at 1:00 p.m. with Chris Aday officiating. Interment will be in Tri-Cities Me­morial Gardens, Florence.

Linda was a loving moth­er, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Dodson; parents, James Al­vin and Irene Green; broth­ers, James Green and Travis Green; and sister, Nell Lee.

Linda is survived by her son, Dale Welborn (Nan­cy); brothers, Harold Green, Kenneth Green (Cynthia), and Jerry Green (Angie); sisters, Charlene Mont­gomery (Earl Peanutt) and Paulene Thomas; grand­children, Austin Welborn and Mitch Welborn; aunt, Connie Spencer; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Aus­tin Welborn, Mitch Wel­born, Derek Thomas, Coby Greer, Jimmy Darling, and Mickey Azbell. Harold Green, Kenneth Green, Jer­ry Green, and Earl Peanutt Montgomery will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Betty Jean May, 72

Betty Jean May, 72, Sheffield, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025. A graveside memorial will be held at a later date..

Betty lived most of her life in Sheffield and was a member of the 1970 grad­uating class of Sheffield High School. After gradu­ation, she attended UNA. Betty had a long career in the medical field. She was a huge fan of Alabama foot­ball, enjoyed reading and the beach, and loved animals, especially her cat, Mis­sy. Her favorite thing was spending time with family and friends. Betty was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents, Bud and Louise May.

She is survived by her sis­ter, Patsy Caradonna; nieces, Michelle Leuschner (Blane), Jodi Chapman (Joe), and Jennifer Fuller; aunt and uncle, Donna and Joe May; nephew, Joey Caradon­na (Jenna); great-nieces and great-nephews, Cam­ryn, Kaitlyn, and Madelyn Leuschner; Faith, Lean­na, and Emmy Chapman, Miles and Millie Jo Cara­donna, and Jordan Cara­donna; and many cousins.

Ashley Robyn Locke, 36, Tuscumbia, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Vis­itation will be Saturday, May 17, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral ser­vice will be Sunday, May 18, in the funeral home chap­el, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be in Oak­wood Cemetery, Sheffield.

Ashley loved her family and took great joy in helping people.

She is survived by her life partner, James Cody Lee; sons, James Cody Lee, Jr. and Wesley Dakota Lee; mother, Dottie Guess (Ed Fisher); father, Rob­in Locke; brothers, Joshua Locke (Christy), Tim Locke, and James Locke (Tosha); sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Rogers (Josh) and Cara Wat­son (Brian); grandmother, Ruby Pearce; aunts and un­cles; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends whom she considered family.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mary Ann Duncan, 68, of Florence, AL, passed away on May 7, 2025. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Colbert Memori­al Chapel from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. with a service to follow at 10. Jerry George and Phil­ip Duncan will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Mary’s greatest joy in life was being a mother to her child, whom she raised with love. She brought to life countless handmade treasures through sewing, crocheting, and other crafts. She was also an avid reader.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Car­roll and Lucille Colton; brothers, Dean Leroy Colton and Clifford Lee Colton; and 3 grandbabies.

She is survived by her husband, Marlin Duncan of Florence, AL; daughter, Jessica Thompson (Eric) of Macon, GA; granddaughter, Carys Thompson of Macon, GA; sister, Betty Burns of Muscle Shoals, AL; broth­er, Victor Colton of Mus­cle Shoals, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Colin Duncan of Spruce Pine, AL; Robert Dun­can of Sheffield, AL; Paul Colton of Rainbow, CA; Jared Colton of Perkins, OK; Justin Colton of Bro­ken Arrow, OK; and Eric Thompson of Macon, GA..
