William Timothy

Self, 62

William Timothy Self, 62, of Muscle Shoals, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 15, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Redemp­tion Shoals. The funeral service will immediately follow with Bubba Cole offi­ciating. Interment will be at Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Tim was a member of Redemption Shoals. He was a loyal and devoted Christian and family man. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, D. Mitch­ell and Elizabeth L. Self and brother, D. Kevin Self.

He is survived by his lov­ing wife of 34 years, Terri Alison Self; children, Del­aney Self Richardson (Ryan) and Dwight Mitchell Self, II (Emily); brothers, Robert Self (Chas) and Mike Self (Melissa); sister, Michelle Tiffin (Van); and grand­children, Vera Rayne Rich­ardson, Ryder Slade Rich­ardson, Sawyer Mae Self, and Olive Mae Self; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ash­ley Freeman, Rodney Stone, Roger Richey, Donald Foust, Mark Smith, and Jeff Henry.

Kathy Denise Poag, 63

Kathy Denise Poag, 63, Sheffield, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. A private fami­ly memorial service will be held at a later time.

Mrs. Poag was a mem­ber of York Terrace Baptist Church, Sheffield. She was preceded in death by her son, Tyler Poag; and parents, Russell and Marie Hargrove.

Mrs. Poag is survived by her daughter, Maken­zie Poag; grandson, Aidan Cook; brother, Steve Har­grove (Lori); and sis­ters, Teresa Carr (Chris), Donna Parkes (Kelly), and Pam Moore (Marty).

The family of Mrs. Poag expresses special thanks to the employees and staff of Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home, Compas­sus Hospice, and sev­eral special caretakers.

Roy Dennis

Farris, 89

Roy Dennis Farris, 89, Tuscumbia, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 12, at Winston Memorial Cemetery, Haleyville, be­ginning at 2:00 p.m. with Bubba Cole officiating.

Roy was a member of Re­demption Shoals and a long­time resident of the Shoals area. He was retired from Listerhill Credit Union. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Florence Farris; wife, Joyce Cheatham Farris; and sons, Mike Farris and infant son.

He is survived by his children, Cathy Ellenburg (Mike) and Barry Farris (Monica); brother, Glendon Farris (Debra); sister, Nancy O’Connor 9Joseph); grand­children, Scott Farris (Jane), John Ellenburg (Katie), Da­vid Ellenburg (Brittany), Brad Farris, and Audrey Far­ris; and great-grandchildren, Luke Farris, George Farris, Addie Farris, Mary Austin Ellenburg, Georgie Ellen­burg, Margot Ellenburg, and Elizabeth Ellenburg.

Pallbearers will be Scott Farris, John Ellenburg, David Ellenburg, and Brad Farris.

The family offers special thanks to the staffs of Cot­tage of the Shoals and Avean­na Hospice for their care and compassion shown to Roy.

Paul Joseph Barcomb

Paul Joseph Barcomb was born on September 9, 1941 in Cheever, NY and passed away on April 2, 2025, in Tampa, FL.

Paul attended Ravena-Co­eymans-Selkirk Central High School, Class of 1959, followed by Norwich University, Class of 1963, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in engineer­ing. Paul had a distinguished career with The United States Army Corps of Engineers. He served two combat tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB), the Legion of Merit, and the Bronze Star, among others. He attained the rank of Lieu­tenant Colonel (LTC), retiring in 1987. Paul used his engi­neering skills throughout his lifetime. There was very little he couldn’t build or fix, and he spent his retirement years do­nating his time to Habitat for Humanity, where he became known as “The Saw Guy.”

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Bet­ty Jane Neill Barcomb.

He is survived by his chil­dren, Traci Barcomb Salem, Paul Barcomb Jr, and Travis Barcomb (Amy), stepsons Gary Allmond (MaryJo) and Jeff All­mond, twelve grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

A memorial visitation will be held on April 25, 2025, from 12pm-2pm at Morrison Funeral Homes, 12801 AL-20, Florence, AL 35633, fol­lowed by a graveside service with full military honors at the Neill Cemetery, Savannah, TN.

James McNeal Morgan, 98

James McNeal Morgan, 98, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025. No services are scheduled at this time.

James was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Sheffield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mari­on and Lawrence Morgan, Sr.

James is survived by his wife, Hattie Bartee Mor­gan; and children, Patricia Ann Morgan and Marion Eugenia Morgan (Kathy).

Peggy June Wilson age 93, passed away on Friday April 11, 2025. Visitation will be Monday, April 14, 2025 from 11:00-12:00 pm at Colbert Memorial Chap­el with service to follow at 12:00pm. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Bart and Lura Shipman and hus­band Herman Wilson, along with her brothers and sisters.

Peggy is survived by her son; Morris Wilson (Mar­ilyn), daughter; Sheila Thomson (Jim), grandchil­dren; Christopher Wilson, Phillip Wilson, Hannah Lewis (Matthew) and Na­than Thomson (Rozaline) and 3 great grandchildren.

Jewett, Jr., 87

Raymond Webster Jewett, Jr., age 87, of Florence, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025. Visitation will be Friday, April 11th from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will follow at 1:00 pm in the fu­neral home chapel. Burial will be at Florence City Cemetery.

Elder Raymond leaves to cherish his memory his devot­ed wife, Pastor Alma Jewett; two sons: Brian Jewett and David (Melia) Jewett; two daughters: Macresia (Kwatsi) Alibaruho and Sharonda Rus­sell; 12 grandchildren: a host of great grandchildren; one broth­er, William Jewett; one sister, Robbie Doles; and a number of loving relatives and friends.

Throughout his life, Elder Raymond remained deeply connected to his family and his roots. He held close bonds with many cherished relatives, including Andrew and Ray Russell Sr., Helen Russell, Vir­gie and Clifford Scott, Annie Russell of Houston, TX, Mary Smith and Jessie of Florence, AL and others such as Jean and Sadie, who were dear to him. He also treasured the wisdom and presence of his Aunt Lottie Hooten of Florence, AL who held a special place in his heart.

Morgan, 95

Hattie Ann Bartee Morgan, 95, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Ar­rangements will be announced.

Hattie was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Shef­field. She was preceded in death by her husband, James McNeal Morgan; and parents, John Lewis and Anna Marie Bartee.

Hattie is survived by her children, Patricia Ann Morgan and Marion E. Morgan (Kathy).

Franklin D.

Parrish, 82

Franklin D. Parrish, age 82, of Florence passed away April 5, 2025. Visitation will be Monday, April 7 from 6 – 8 pm at Williams Funeral Home in Florence. The ser­vice will be Tuesday, April 8, at 1 pm in the chapel with burial following in Tri-Cit­ies Memorial Gardens.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Dean Parrish; parents, Mack and Susie Parrish; brothers, Fred­dy, Kenneth, Jerry, Donald and Lonnie Parrish; sisters, Sarah Ruth Parrish, Lorene Gandy and Louise Lamar.

Mr. Parrish is survived by his daughter, Dalisa Fritts; grandsons, Cody Fritts (Glo­ria) and Alan Fritts; and sister, Ellen McMurtrey.

After 35 ½ years, Mr. Par­rish retired from Nichols Wire Incorporated. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Central Heights Volunteer Fire Department.

Billy Joe

Hodges, 87

Billy Joe Hodges, age 87, of Decatur, passed away April 3, 2025. A me­morial service will be held at noon, Saturday, April 26 at Jones Chapel FWB on Waterloo Road.

He is preceded in death by his son, Billy Joe Hodges II; two sisters, two broth­ers; and parents, Chalmer and Mattie Cole Hodges.

Billy is survived by his son, Christopher “Chris” Hodges; granddaughters, Brandee Hodges, Cassidy Hodges, and Kristie Hodg­es; great-grandchildren, Hayden Sain, Caslynn Wil­son, and Dakota Hodges; nu­merous nieces and nephews.

Billy was a 1937 graduate of Waterloo High School. He retired from Lincoln Brass in Detroit, Michigan. Billy was a hard worker with many hobbies, but he en­joyed spending time with his family and loved ones more than anything else. Billy will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Jeffrey Lynn Smith, 59

Jeffrey Lynn Smith, 59, Cherokee, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025. Vis­itation will be Wednesday, April 16, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Harris Chapel Bap­tist Church, Cherokee. The funeral service will imme­diately follow at the church with Wade Wallace and Derrick Wallace officiating. Interment will be in Harris Chapel Cemetery, Cherokee.

Jeffrey is survived by his children, Blake Smith and Kodi Smith; broth­er, Anthony Posey; neph­ew, Britton Posey; and several aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers will be Blake Smith, Kodi Smith, Anthony Posey, Britton Posey, Brady Ledlow, and Nick Thomason.
