Elmer Glenn Buxton, 72

Elmer Glenn Buxton, 72, of Leighton, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2024, in Florence, Alabama. He was 72 years old. Visita­tion will be Friday, Decem­ber 13, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The fu­neral service will immedi­ately follow in the funeral home chapel with Frank Goff officiating. Please join the family for a reception in celebration of Elmer’s life following the service.

Oldest son to Napoleon “poley” Buxton and Velma Lou Buxton, he was born September 15, 1952, in Oak­dale Louisiana. In the 1970s he moved to the Bay Area in California where he grad­uated from San Jose State University and began to raise his family. In follow­ing years he became a car dealer by trade and opened his own car lot, A-1 Benz. After many years in the in­dustry, he retired and moved to Redding, in Northern Cal­ifornia. In most recent years he moved to Alabama to make his dreams come true with his loving wife, Ursu­la. He was an inclusive man of faith, with a deep love for music, world travel, animals and peaceful moments with friends and family. A beau­tiful man born with the gift of gab, a charisma that made human connection every­where he went, and a smile that brightened the room. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; as well as his older sister, Delbra.

He is survived by his wife, Ursula Buxton; his two lov­ing children, Trenton Glenn Buxton and Brittany Buxton Ramus; his stepchildren, Micheal, Victoria and Ve­ronica; his three grandchil­dren, Joseph, Michelle, and Chiara Miglietta; as well as his two younger brothers, Timothy and Van Buxton.

Laura Marie

Kidwell, 50

Laura Marie Kidwell, 50, of Evergreen, AL, formerly of the Shoals, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024. Visitation will be Sunday, December15, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Morrison Fu­neral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immedi­ately follow in the funeral home chapel with Truman Sutton officiating. Interment will be at Shaw Cemetery.

Laura was a devoted Nick Saban and Alabama fan, and she was crazy about her grandkids. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Williams; sis­ter, Joetta Kidwell; grand­mother, Edna Kidwell; and nephew, James Whitten.

Laura is survived by her children, Cody Kid­well (Elizabeth Creasy) and Kimberly Stracner (Thomas Mitchell); moth­er, Joy Williams; brother, Jeffrey Kidwell; grandchil­dren Cameron Kidwell and Carmyn Kidwell (On the way), Dustin, Olivia, and James White and Nevaeh, TJ, and Tyson Mitchell; and aunt, Judith Hatmaker.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Michael Shane Berry, 44

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Michael Shane Berry, on December 9, 2024, at the age of 44. Michael was born on October 26, 1980, in Florence, Alabama.

Shane is preceded in death by his mother: Sheryl Dodge, father: William Leech, grandparents: James (Shir­ley) Roe, Peggy (LC) Size­more, great uncle: Robert Nicholas, uncle: Robert Roe, and nephew: Quinton Cox.

Shane is survived by his stepfather, Rick Dodge; sisters, LaShanna Roe (Harold), Janaye Creecy, and Jessica Jenkins; aunts, Ann Jairam and Rhonda (Terry) McGregor; great-aunt, Patti Nicholas; un­cle, Anthony Sizemore (Kaye); and several niec­es, nephews and cousins.

Michael’s love was the outdoors. He loved to camp and fish. He could stay on the riverbank for hours just en­joying the serenity of nature.

There will be a private family memorial service.

Connie Sue

Holt, 76

Connie Sue Holt, 76, of Cherokee, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. There will be a graveside service on Fri­day, December 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Harris Chapel Cemetery in Cherokee with Rick Collum officiating.

Connie was a native and lifelong resident of Colbert County. She was a member of the Chero­kee Church of Christ and was retired from Walmart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Janie and James LeFan; brother, Jimmy LeFan; and sisters, Oma Pound­ers and Peggy Diantoniis.

Connie is survived by her husband, Douglas Holt; children, Randall (Kim), Selena (Jerry), and Brad (Katie); grandchildren, Aaron (Heather), Rachel, Brayden (Chastin), and Gabi (Isaiah); and great grandchildren, Blake­ly, Jax, Kolby, and Alex.

Pallbearers are Mitchell Turberville, Terry LeFan, Darrin Hogeland, Dar­ren Franks, Ryan Turber­ville, and Dane Deaton.

The family expresses special thanks to the nurs­es at Tishomingo Manor.

Shirley M.

Bousman, 77

Heaven has gained a true angel. Shirley M Bousman was born on Jan 17, 1947, in Milestone Ky. She at­tended school in Greenfield, IN, graduated from Portage High school in Portage, IN, and attended Hyles Ander­son College in Crown Point, IN. She leaves behind a leg­acy of warmth and kindness. Shirley walked through life with a gentleness, a strength, touching the lives of every­one she encountered with an unforgettable grace.

Visitation will be Sat­urday, December 14, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Morri­son Funeral Home, Tuscum­bia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Bob Bousman officiating. Interment will be in Oak­wood Cemetery, Sheffield.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Belvia Spangler; brothers, Willie Spangler and Dave Spangler; and sister, Janice Spangler.

She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-one years, Robert (Bob) Bous­man; three children and their wives, Robert “Tony” Bousman (Tobitha), Bever­ly Gott (Brian) and Thomas Bousman (Meghan), all of Alabama; one sister, Judy Nelson (Ed) of Blooming­ton, IN; nine grandchildren, Kourtney, Rebecca, Jesse, Caleb, Jacob, Haley, Hannah, Brandon, and Emma; and three great-grandchildren.

Shirley was a woman of Baptist faith, strong and independent, yet silly and loving as well. She loved her church, her Pastor, the Lord and her KJV Bible. She loved to be with her family. She was a lover of Crocheting, “It’s a Won­derful Life” & Chocolate. You would never find her house without decorations for the holidays, or without her nails perfectly painted.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Martha Ann Miller, 84

Martha Ann Miller, 84, of Waterloo, passed away, Thursday, December 12, 2024. Visitation will be Monday, December 23, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Murphys Chap­el. The funeral will follow with Marcus Morrow offici­ating. Burial will be at Fran­ces King Lucas Cemetery.

She was a member of Murphys Chapel. Mar­tha is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Jennie Mae Harris; hus­band, Gary Miller; daugh­ter, Mitzi Sanders; grand­daughter, Sabrina Sanders.

Martha is survived by her children, Harold Sanders, Joseph Sanders (Petra), and Sidney Sanders; brothers, George Harris and Ron­nie Harris; sisters, Donna Harris, Cindy Pavlos, and Linda Ables; grandchil­dren, Josh Sanders (Crys­tal), Jeremy Sanders, Alicia Wood (Todd), John Belvin (Martha), Nathan Sanders (Megan), Kayla Heffernan (Chris); great-grandchil­dren, Pace Hanback, Ethan Sanders, Shianne Sand­ers, Tucker Vaughn, Mat­tie Wood, Kensley Sand­ers, Paisley Wood, Amelia Belvin, and Olivia Belvin.

Pallbearers will be Pace Hanback, Nathan Sanders, Josh Sanders, Ethan Sanders, John Belvin, and Todd Wood.

In Lieu of flowers do­nations can be made to Murphy’s Chapel Church.

Barbara Jean Worsham, 82

Barbara Jean Worsham of Cherokee, AL passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on August 16, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Lizzie James. Barbara was the wife of the late Ben­nie Roger Worsham and together they had one son.

Barbara was a secretary at Bigbee Steel and later retired from Muscle Shoals Minerals. Her favorite job though was cooking break­fast at B & S Grocery for her regular customers. Bar­bara’s biscuits were a del­icacy her family will never be able to duplicate and will always miss. A high­light of her years working was planning the annual company family picnic at Muscle Shoals Minerals.

After “retirement,” Bar­bara owned and operated the Flower Gallery. Her time owning her business was full of making beautiful things, none more special than things at Christmas time.

Barbara was the proud grandmother to three and a great-grandmother to four. She loved her fam­ily and friends, loved to cook for a crowd, and lived life large as long as her health would allow.

She is survived by her son, Steve Worsham (Pam); brother Bobby James (Joan); grandchildren, Sarah Beth Shepard (Billy), Blake Worsham (Emily), and Sa­mantha Wright (Parker); nieces, Vicki Woods (Dale), Renee Landers (Eugene); great grandchildren, Beau and Cam Shepard, Tate and Ava Worsham, and many great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, December 17, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Mhoontown Meth­odist Church. The graveside service will immediately follow in the adjoining cem­etery with Billy Shepard and Dwight Rivers officiating.

Family friends will serve as pallbearers.

Howard

Massey, 88

Howard Massey, 88, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at his residence. He was born April 24, 1936 to Murphy and Juanita “Neat” Gober Massey in a cabin on Trace Branch. Howard married the love of his life, Shir­ley Petree on December 20, 1959. In nine days they would have been married sixty-five wonderful years. Prior to their wedding, Howard was drafted into the Army and was given or­ders to report to Germany.

Howard and Shirley have three children, Keith Massey (Faye), Kevin Massey (Dana) and Kay Lockridge (Les). Upon returning to Al­abama, Howard had many jobs and was a jack of all trades. He retired from the Franklin County Commis­sion as a heavy equipment mechanic. After retirement he rarely missed a Mon­day at Franklin County sale barn. The rest of the week he could be found riding side saddle on his four-wheel­er in the pasture with his border collies working the sheep. Howard and his dogs were a sight to see. As much as he loved being outdoors, nothing compared to his love for the Lord. He at­tended services faithfully at Five Points Church of Christ until his health would not allow. Second to his love of the Lord was his love of his family. Howard loved his wife and children, but the love for his grands and great-grands was above the rest. He was Howard to the world, but to his grand­children, Marc Massey (Stephanie), Michelle Le­May (TJ), Kris Massey (Melissa), Torey Massey (Kimberly), Kaleigh, Drake and Keely Massey, Zach and Kyler Greeson and great-grandchildren, Ty­ler, Allie, Lincoln, Ava, Estelle, Celeste, Elliott Massey, Bo, Kade, Mada­lyn LeMay, he was PePaw.

Services will be Saturday, December 14, 1 p.m. at Dea­ton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Lon­nie Oldag and Keith Massey officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, December 14, 11-1 p.m. at Deaton Fu­neral Home, Red Bay, AL. Burial will be in Dempsey Cemetery, Russellville, AL. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Marc Massey, TJ LeMay, Torey Massey, Drake Massey, Kade LeMay and Bo LeMay. Hon­orary pallbearers will be Ty­ler Massey, Lincoln Massey and Zach and Kyler Greeson.

Many thanks to his be­loved granddaughter, Mi­chelle, who took such good care of her PePaw until the end, and to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care.

Jimmy E.

Booker, 84

Jimmy E. Booker born on June 19, 1940 of Tuscumbia Al. passed away December 13, 2024. Visitation will be Monday, December 16, 2024 from 5-7 at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Service will be Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Eastport Ceme­tery in Iuka, Ms. Officiating will be Scott Livingston.

Jimmy is preced­ed death by his parents; John and Lillian Book­er; wife, Doris Booker, and brother Jerry Booker.

Jimmy is survived by his sons; Bruce Booker and Mark Booker (Kala) grandchildren; Callie Book­er and Austin Booker.

He was born and raised at the Booker homeplace in Eastport Hollow in Tisho­mingo County, MS. Jimmy was the oldest of two sons born to John E. (Ted) and Lillian Sanderson Booker. He and his brother walked one mile to Clements Chap­el School, a one room-one teacher school, it was lo­cated next to the Eastport Baptist Church and in front of Eastport Cemetery. He graduated in1953 and began attending Iuka High School in the fall 1953 then gradu­ated with the class of 1957. He attended Northeast MS. Junior College in Boones­ville, MS. until 1958. Jimmy worked at Genesco in Iuka then worked at Reynolds Metal Company in Sheffield, AL plant for 37.5 years.

He married Doris Walker on December 23, 1961 and they moved to Colbert Coun­ty AL. He was a member of Valdosta Baptist Church, where he served as a dea­con, Sunday school teacher, and assistant at the church.

Leigh H. Pyle, 87

Leigh H. Pyle, 87, Tus­cumbia, passed away on Sat­urday, December 14, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, December 18, at 2:00 p.m. at First Bap­tist Church, Tuscumbia, with Barrett Long officiating.

Leigh was a native of En­gland, Arkansas, but called Tuscumbia her home. She was a member of First Bap­tist Church, Tuscumbia. Leigh enjoyed taking her children and grandchildren to Spring Park and walks downtown. She retired from Deshler High School after working there as a secre­tary for thirty-five years and served as a Candy Striper at Helen Keller Hospital. Leigh had a love for nature and plants. She enjoyed work­ing in her backyard, where she designed and tended her beautiful gardens. But her favorite thing to do was care for her children and grand­children whom she con­sidered her most beautiful flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Kennedy; parents, Dan and Lucille Halbrook; siblings, Joe Halbrook and Reba Halbrook; and the father of her children, Wyman Pyle.

She is survived by her children, Mark Pyle (Lisa) and Tambra Howard (Rod­ney); grandchildren, Eric Howard (Michelle), Ra­chel Knight (Rush), Tyler Pyle (Lauren), and Jacob Thompson (Bridgette); great-grandchildren, Buddy Curtis; Carson, Weston, Wy­att, and Ethan Pyle; Emmie, Eva, and Maverick How­ard; and Reese and Rogan Knight; brother, Paul Hal­brook; and “sisters”, Mar­tha, Sue, Mary, and Dottie.

In lieu of flowers, memo­rials may be made to First Baptist Church, Tuscumbia, the Tuscumbia Education Foundation, or Pets Are Worth Saving of the Shoals.

Hollie Renea

Hogan, 44

Hollie Renea Hogan, 44, of Muscle Shoals, AL, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024. Visi­tation will be Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 10 am-12 pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a service to follow at 12 pm in the chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.

She graduated from Colbert Coun­ty High School in 1998.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray­mond and Lucille Bar­rett Aday; sister, Melissa “Lisa” Preston; brother, Raymond “Bill” Aday; sis­ter-in-law, Sara Aday; in-laws, Jeff and Pam Hogan.

Hollie is survived by her husband of 18 years, Rich­ard “Ricky” Hogan; son, Richard Hogan (Drew); brothers, Steve Aday, Rick­ey Don Aday (Diane); broth­er-in-law’s, Jeff Hogan and Leland Preston, Sr.; sister, Shelia Hill (Mike), and San­dy Romans (Jimmy); numer­ous nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
