Anne Cassell Holmes

Anne Cassell Holmes de­parted this world and went to her eternal rest on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Visitation will be Friday, October 25, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Cliff Haven Church, Shef­field. The funeral service will immediately follow at the church with Bishop James Clanton officiating. Interment will be in Oak­wood Cemetery, Sheffield.

Anne was a member of Cliff Haven Church of God of Prophecy. Because of her deep faith and love for her Lord, she served in many positions through the years. She enjoyed travel­ing with her husband Tom­my and family. Anne was proud to be “Mama” to her daughters and was a devot­ed “Nana” to her grandchil­dren. She loved butterflies!

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. William Madison Cassell and Prince Anna Cassell; and brother, Ricky Cassell.

Anne is survived by her loving husband, Tommy Holmes; daughters, Pamela Boling (David) and Cheryl Blackstock (Noah); brother, Edward Cassell; sister, Dor­othy Bates; grandchildren, Samantha Blackstock, Jake Blackstock (Jenna), Chris­topher Boling, and Anna Gann (Tanner); great-grand­children, River Blackstock, Katherin Gann, and Bo Blackstock; and a host of extended family. In addition, Anne considered herself very blessed to leave be­hind so many good friends.

She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Norma Ruth Setliff, 83

Norma Ruth Setliff, 83, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024. Visitation will be Thursday, October 24, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Greg Beasley and Mike Noles officiat­ing. Interment will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Norma was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church and a retired book­keeper with Buffalo Rock. She loved birds and enjoyed spending time watching their activity at her feeders.

Norma is survived by her children, Tara Rivera (Carlos) and Stuart Setliff (Tonia); siblings, Caro­lyn Stepp, Tommy Bo­hannon, Dennis Bohan­non, and Mike Bohannon; and grandchildren, Jordan Setliff Swinehart (Shaun), Jacob Setliff, Diego Ri­vera, and Isabella Rivera.

Pallbearers will be Ja­cob Setliff, Diego Ri­vera, Shaun Swinehart, Mark Pyle, Todd Bohan­non, and Evan Richelson.

Gene McKinley Sanderson, 85

Gene McKinley Sander­son, 85, Leighton, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Visitation will be Sunday, November 17, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Cow­boy Church of Colbert Coun­ty, 3440 SR-157S, Leighton, AL, 35646. A memorial ser­vice will immediately follow at the church with Pastor Truman Sutton officiating.

Gene was a member of The Cowboy Church in the White Oak community of Leigh­ton, Alabama. The served in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War era. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Lee and Glenis Sanderson.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Sarah Jean Sanderson; son, Michael Lee Sanderson and wife Michelle; daughter, Brenda Sanderson; brother, Larry Sanderson and wife, Helen; grandchildren, Mad­ison Neely and Ashley Pol­lak; nephews, Derek Sand­erson and wife, Alise, and Jeremy Sanderson and wife, Kelly; and extended family members, Madison Smith, and Jake and Kaylee Skinner.

In lieu of flowers, me­morials may be made to The Cowboy Church of Colbert County.

Harlie Grace Grissom, 17

Harlie Grace Grissom, 17, Sheffield, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Visitation will be Saturday, October 26, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Fu­neral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will im­mediately follow in the fu­neral home chapel with Pas­tor Jeremy Goss officiating. Interment will be in Oak­wood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Harlie attended Abun­dant Grace, now known as Shoals Church of the Way. She was preceded in death by her father, Bron­nie Grissom; her grand­mother, Sandra Hooks; and her aunt, Amanda Grissom.

Harlie is survived by her mother, Dianne Grissom; brothers, Billy Grissom (Kelly), Chance Wisdom, Chase Wisdom, and Gavin McDougal; sisters, Kimberly Oliver (Gary) and Ava Gris­som; special Uncle Gene and Aunt Connie Wisdom; spe­cial cousins, Noah (Grace), Sailar (Evan), Ryleigh, and Aydin; a host of other aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Tripp.

Pallbearers will be Noah Bishop, Noah Ruiz, Chance Wisdom, Chase Wis­dom, and Ashwin Nichols.

Cartee, 59

Donna Kaye Cartee, 59, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Visitation will be Saturday, October 26, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Sunday, October 27, in the funeral home chapel, be­ginning at 2:00 p.m. with Greg Corble officiating.

Donna was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents, Clifford and Ruth Burnett; and brothers, An­thony and Glenn Burnett.

Donna is survived by her loving husband of thir­ty-nine years, Jodie L. Car­tee; children, Kimberly Cartee and Anthony Cartee; brother, Calvin Burnett; sisters, Pam Hayes, Denice Agee, Edna Cook, Gail Rob­erts, Regina Blasingame, Tamara Makurat, and Becky Galbreath; grandchildren, Blaklynn Cartee, Carson Ivey, and Jadelynn Williford; and niece, Tina McDaniel.

Jeannelle Maria Stump Diviney

Jeannelle Maria Stump Diviney died on October 24, 2024, of a major Cardiac Event. She was preceded in death by her three preemie infants, Johnathan Speegle Stump, Gabriel Speegle, Elijah Speegle; her father, David Stump; uncles, Brad­ly and Jeffery Stump; grand­parents, Walter and Enid June Stump; grandparents, Charles and Lois Wernicke; and aunt, Cheryl Wernicke.

Jeannelle is survived by her husband, Frankey Divin­ey; children, Zachery Spee­gle, Dalton Diviney, and Abby Diviney; her moth­er, Janet Wernicke Stump; brother, Charles Stump; sister, Danette Stump Lit­tle; grandchildren, Hadley and Huntley Speegle; and many aunts, uncles, niec­es, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia with a fu­neral following in the fu­neral home chapel at 4:00 p.m. Mike Cutler will of­ficiate the service. A pri­vate graveside will be held in Shady Grove Ceme­tery in Logan, Alabama.

Pallbearers will be Zach, Michael, Jim, Charles, Scott, and Dalton.

Dowdy, 91

Nelda B. Dowdy, 91, of Cullman, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024. Visitation will be Wednes­day, October 30, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at Morri­son Funeral Home, Chero­kee. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Mitchell Dalrymple offici­ating. Interment will be at Cherokee Memorial Park.

Nelda was a native of Corinth, MS but resided in the Shoals for many years.

and was a member of Tri-Cities Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles William Dowdy and Bobby Wallace; parents, Jack and Eulalia Jackson; and sib­lings, Buford Jackson, Erva Jean Hight, J.W. Jackson.

Nelda is survived by her son, Charles “Larry” Dowdy (Cindy); grandson, William Thomas Dowdy (Page); 2 great-grandchil­dren, Madeline and Geor­gia Dowdy; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Dan­iel Thorne, David Pat­rick, Larry Dowdy, Wil­liam Dowdy, Madeline and Georgia Dowdy.

Sherry Dianne Price, 75

Sherry Dianne Price, 75, of Muscle Shoals, AL passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 1-3 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a ser­vice to follow in the chapel at 3 p.m. Ben Hayes will be officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

She was a member of High­land Park Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jewell Morrison; sis­ter, Wanda Morrison.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Price of Muscle Shoals, AL; sons, Greg Price (Paula) of Foley, AL and Brian Price (Mi­chelle) of Sheffield, AL; brother-in-law, Steve Price; brother, Jim Morrison (Gale) of Florence, AL; grandchil­dren, Callie Price of Shef­field, AL, Micah Price of Huntsville, AL, Anna Claire Price of Tupelo, MS, Sum­mer Rae Teeters (Blake) of Mooresville, MS, and Jon David Price of Munford, TN; great grandchildren, Blaise Price and Colt Teeters

Thomas Glen Morris, 91

Thomas Glen Morris, 91, of Russellville, passed away on Thursday, Octo­ber 24, 2024. Visitation will be Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel in Tuscumbia with the funeral service imme­diately following in the fu­neral home chapel. Adam Pharr will officiate the ser­vice. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

Thomas was a Colbert County native. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and broth­er. He owned and operat­ed Tommy’s Saw Shop for many years and he was a member of Southside Bap­tist Church in Russellville.

Thomas was preceded in death by his first wife, Becky Morris; parents, Tommy and Rachel Morris; sisters, Mary Seilheimer, Annie Sanchez, Carolyn Sue Morris, Myrtle Ferguson, and Mildred Leonard; and his stepchildren, Dorothy Patrick, Sandra Bolander, and James McDowell, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Morris; daughter, Glenda Brackin (Pete); brother, Pete Morris (Carol); grandchildren, Lee McIntyre (Nicole), Andy Berryman (Monica), Annika Bolander, Marie Patrick, and Keith Patrick; great grand­children, Brandon McIntyre (Brittany), Chance McIn­tyre (Rose), Tristen Patrick, Luke Patrick, Renea Berry, Rainee Milender (Jacob), and Katlyn Gipson (Eli); and great-great grandchildren, Paxton and Hughston McIn­tyre, and Lawson Milender.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Stacy Nicole

Evans, 43

Stacy Nicole (Thomason) Evans, 43, Muscle Shoals, passed from her earthly home on Oct. 24, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

A true warrior, Stacy bravely fought cancer for almost four years. She grad­uated from Muscle Shoals High School in 1999, attend­ed the University of North Alabama and received a nursing degree from North­west-Shoals Community College. She worked as an RN at Helen Keller Hospi­tal before becoming a full-time caregiver to her Mimi.

Stacy loved spend­ing time with her family, which included her High­land Park Church of Christ family, where she was ac­tive with the ladies’ group and worked with children.

She was preceded in death by her Papa and Mimi, Jesse and Reba Thornton, Mus­cle Shoals; father, William David Thomason, Muscle Shoals; grandparents, Mable Swatzell, Florence, and Jack Thomason, Muscle Shoals.

Survivors include the love of her live, Nathan­iel Evans, and her pride and joy, daughter Jessalyn Ansleigh Evans, Muscle Shoals; mother and stepfa­ther, Teri and Randy Paul Stepleton, Muscle Shoals; mother- and father-in-law, Melissa and Jim Gunnels, Florence; uncle and aunt, Dale and Traci Thornton, Muscle Shoals; and a host of extended family members.

A special thanks to Dr. Heather Brody and staff at Clearview Cancer Center, Florence. While the rea­son she came to CCI was unpleasant, Stacy loved her caregivers. Also, thank you to the nurses with Hospice of North Ala­bama, who cared for Stacy and her family at the end.

A celebration of Stacy’s life will be Sunday, Oct. 27, at Highland Park Church of Christ, Muscle Shoals. Vis­itation with the family will be 12:30-2 p.m., followed by the service with Ben Hayes and Will Myhan officiating.

Pallbearers will be Ran­dall Evans, Jim Gunnels, Seth Thornton, Keith Herston, Kevin Her­ston and Nolan Herston.

In lieu of flowers, the fam­ily asks that memorial do­nations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospi­tal or Highland Park Church of Christ missions fund.

Carolyn Sue

Vandiver, 80

Carolyn Sue Vandiver, 80, of Tuscumbia, AL passed away on October 22, 2024. Visitation will be at Col­bert Memorial Chapel on Friday October 25, 2024 from 12 to 2 with a ser­vice to follow at 2. Nathan Alred will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens

Carolyn was known for her unwavering love, kindness, and nurturing spirit. She dedicated her life to creating a warm and welcoming home for her husband and chil­dren, filling their days with laughter, delicious meals, and countless memories.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ross Vandiver Jr.; parents, Bessie Aldean and Carrol Hughes; daughter, Sheri Vandiver; son, Mark Van­diver; brother, Tom Hughes; special uncle and aunt, Tom and Mary Hughes.

She is survived by her son, Tim Vandiver (Ste­fanie); daughter, Teri Malone; grandchildren, Justin Hines (Tabitha), Matt Vandiver, Chasity Ca­ble (Troy), Cody Vandiv­er, Heather Malone, Alana Green (Josh), Emily Thomp­son (Albert), Haley Malone, and James Ross Vandiver; sisters-in-law, Nancy Kir­by, Joyce Andrews, and Jan Hughes; 14 great-grandchil­dren; and numerous niec­es, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Greg Vandiver, Eddy Ray Van­diver, Keith Vandiver, Rob Vandiver, Jon Vandiver, and Eddy Hughes. Honor­ary pallbearers will be Phil Andrews and Tony Hughes.

George Pate, 83

George Pate, 83, died on October 22, 2024 after an extended illness. He was born on February 20, 1941 in Sheffield, AL. A grave­side service will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, 10 a.m. at Colbert Memo­rial Gardens. Bro. Greg Beasley will be officiating.

George was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nona Pate, his brothers, Pete Pate and infant Ben­ny J. Pate; niece, Amanda McDonald; and brother-in-law, Doug McDonald.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Jane McDonald; niec­es, Jackie McMurtrey, Tina Pate and Angela (Thomas) Counts; great niece, Tanya (Kitori) Baugh; great neph­ew, Brandon Crittenden.

George placed his faith and trust in Jesus Christ many years ago. He was a graduate of Colbert Coun­ty High School. He retired from Reynolds where he was an aluminum worker. He also served in the Al­abama National Guard..

Marilyn Sue Jantzen

Marilyn Sue Jantzen, born January 15, 1949, in Pecu­liar, MO, passed away peace­fully on October 27, 2024, in Tuscumbia, AL. A memorial service will be held in Kan­sas City, MO, at a later date.

Marilyn was the cher­ished daughter of Clar­ence Houchen and Evelyn Houchen McAninch of Pe­culiar, MO, and one of six siblings. In 1969, Marilyn married Gerald H. Jantzen, with whom she shared many years until their divorce in 1982. Later, she found joy and companionship with Eu­gene “Gene” Robinett, with whom she spent 24 years in Grandview, MO, until Gene’s passing in 2015.

Marilyn’s life was defined by her deep love for her fam­ily and her devotion to help­ing others. She was happiest when baking, gardening, sewing, solving puzzles, or volunteering her time at the local VFW and church food pantry. Known for her lively spirit and her generous heart, Marilyn was always ready to lend a hand, arriving a little late but with a big smile and even bigger love. She loved dancing, had a feisty spirit, and an unfailing dedication to making sure those around her knew they were loved.

She was preceded in death by her son Eric Sean Jantzen.

Marilyn leaves behind a loving family, including her four children, Jaime Jantzen Lee (John), Der­rick Jantzen, Jillian Jantzen, and Janine Jantzen, as well as nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her brothers Bob, Edgar (Geraldine), Herb, and Lou­is (Cheryl) Houchen, and her sister Christine Mur­ray (Bill) remember her with love and admiration.

As she reunites with the Lord, her parents, her son and her beloved Gene, her family reflects on her en­during legacy of kindness, strength, and love. “We love you bestest, Mom. We’ll see you again someday.”
