Moore makes return visit to Colbert County on campaign trail

When President Donald Trump announced his intention to run for President of the United States in 2015, Barry Moore was the first person in the nation to endorse him.

President Trump returned the favor in January by endorsing Moore, currently the U.S. representative for the 1st congressional district in Alabama, in his bid to win the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Senator Tommy Tuberville after the latter announced a run for governor.

Moore received Vice President J.D. Vance’s endorsement on Feb. 18, and the next day Moore visited Colbert County for an event at Locust Hill in Tuscumbia.

Moore visited the county previously during an event at Stephano’s Southland in Sheffield on Sept. 22, 2025.

He currently represents Baldwin, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Escambia, Geneva, Henry, Houston and (most of) Mobile counties.

He was a member of the Alabama state House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018, heading up the 91st district.

“The momentum is building, and that’s what you’ve got to do in these things,” Moore said. “People north of Birmingham don’t know us yet. I’ve had two congressional districts south of Montgomery. Getting those endorsements raises your name ID and credibility. It helps in a race like this.”

Moore said when Trump has previously endorsed him, it has been after the primaries.

“For him to come out this early for us is huge,” Moore said. “He said I’m 406-0, don’t mess this up. We called our team. Everyone was so excited. There’s a sense of momentum and excitement when you get that. It’s great for the team, and there’s certainly a pathway for victory.”

Running for office means pounding the pavement and meeting with potential voters across the state.

Moore said he spent the day before the Locust Hill event crossing Alabama from bottom to top.

“When we are in Alabama, we are traveling,” he said. “We have a Tahoe that’s 12 months old and has 50,000 miles on it. We are constantly on the move. We started in Enterprise yesterday morning and did an event in Huntsville last night. This is our third stop today. You just have to be on the road. It is a lot to run 67 counties.

“We have been trying to make the rounds to understand the needs of each region. It’s good for us to come up north and meet with community leaders.”
