Local author debuts new book ‘Times of the Gentiles’

It all started with a potluck-style fellowship meal and Bible study between Florence native Larry Miller, his wife Cyndi and another couple.

Miller was sent some information from the couple’s church that included a claimed date for the destruction of Jerusalem and Solomon’s temple.

“In my effort to reply to this couple about the date of Jerusalem and Solomon’s temple destruction, the Holy Spirit kept nudging my heart and showing me there was more to the story than just this date,” Larry Miller said.

What was meant to be some quick research and a simply reply turned into a four-year deep dive into the history of the past 2,500 years and the different dates claimed by multiple religious groups.

“In my study I found three different religious groups claiming a different date for the destruction of Jerusalem and Solomon’s temple,” Miller said. “As I tried to write a logical reply, it grew from a simple reply letter into the book ‘Times of the Gentiles.’

Four years later, I can present to you what the Lord put on my heart and what he has shown me about the times of the gentiles. There was one big event that everyone has missed and misinterpreted about Christ return through the years. Until our generation no one could have possibly tied these events together.”

Miller grew up in Florence, moved away in 1973, came back to Muscle Shoals in 2001 and now lives in St. Florian.

He has worked in various fields such as broadcast engineering, telecommunications and medical systems engineering.

Miller said he installed the now former MRI machine in Shoals Hospital years ago.

Fast forward to 2025, and the Millers, spiritual partners who met in church, now have the Times of the Gentiles Outreach program, which includes Bible study sessions.

Larry Miller’s book uses the founding of Israel as a connection to go back and line up discrepancies in historical dates found in multiple religious texts as well as secular calendars.

Miller codified many important events into a single timeline that is part of the book.

“I feel a responsibility to get it to as many people as I can and let people know the amazing things in it,” he said. “I wrote a book because there is so much there, I cannot tell it all in any one sitting.

“In four years of research, I have not found this connection of these two prophecy events anywhere. Some of the prophecies, such as the coming of the messiah from Daniel, have been correctly interpreted by many through the years.

“But there is much more to the story. God has shown how we can know for sure that God is in control of the events in history and through the scriptures God announce the timing of these events from his calendar and not man’s calendar. And to top it off, God has allowed secular historians to prove it for us.”

“The book, in its entirety, is the evidence to what God has only revealed to our generation. Things only our generation could put together even though it covers 2,500 years ago,” Miller said.
