Trojans notch 3rd-straight shutout win

The Muscle Shoals Trojans remained undefeated and earned their third-straight shutout with a 28-0 win over Athens on Oct. 3.

The win puts the Trojans at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in Class 6A, Region 7.

The victory clinches a playoff berth for the Trojans, who have made the postseason each season since 2009.

Though Muscle Shoals won region titles in 2023 and 2024, the Trojans have two undefeated opponents left to face in Jasper and Hartselle, both 6-0.

The latter is no surprise, as the head-to-head between Muscle Shoals and Hartselle has decided the region champion for the last four years.

First up is Jasper on Oct. 10. The Vikings have just outscored the Trojans on the season at 247-243, but Muscle Shoals has allowed just 19 points on defense to JV’s 98.

Jasper won the head-to-head 49-48 last year despite Muscle Shoals going on to win the region.

At any rate, the next two games will likely be the toughest of the season for the Trojans until the playoffs roll around.

Muscle Shoals caps the regular season against 7A Austin (4-2), which should be another contested matchup.

The Trojans got on the board against Athens with a 38-yard touchdown pass from Kade Clemmons to Jashad Samples.

Jorge Garcia went 4-for-4 on point-after attempts on the night.

Shone Tapscott notched the next two scores on runs from 15 and 2 yards out.

Another touchdown pass from Clemmons to Samples marked the final points of the game.

The shutout victory lowers the Trojans points-per-game allowed even lower to 3.16.
