Quilt Show returns to Belle Mont
Fall is in the air, and that means the return of events like The Quilt Show Exhibit ate Belle Mont Mansion.
During the month of October, Belle Mont will be decorated in a wide variety of quilts that date from the 1800s into modern times and showcase different patterns and artistry.
The exhibit will be open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Oct. 1 and running through Halloween.
Exhibit curator Glenn Rikard will hold Quilt Show Programs each Friday (except for Oct. 31) at 1 p.m. in October.
Attendees will be taken on a tour through the historic Belle Mont Mansion to learn about the quilts on display.
“Attendees are invited to bring their own quilts from home for the ‘Quilt Show & Tell’ portion of the program, where they can tell about the quilts history and gain valuable insight from Mr. Rikard,” said Laura Everitt, site director at Belle Mont.
The cost to attend the Quilt Show Programs are $6 per person, while the quilt show exhibit can be explored for the regular museum admission.
This year, Belle Mont will be adding an accompanying program series called “Kids & Quilts.”
This series will take place on Oct. 11 and 25 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Each program will feature a different story.
“These programs will teach children all about the history, connection and artistry behind quilts,” Everitt said. “The programs will feature quilt-themed story times and let children design and color their own quilt square for display in Belle Mont. Also included will be Halloween snacks, coloring, and museum and exhibit admission.”
The programs are recommended for children ages 3 and up. Cost is $5 per family.
No RSVP is required. All supplies for the program will be provided.
