New Colbert County head coach Oscar Bonds topped his former program by leading the Indians to a 44-21 win over Tanner last week.

CCHS improves to 1-1 on the year but will face an early tough test by beginning Class 3A, Region 7 play with a trip to reigning 3A state champion Mars Hill (2-0).

The Panthers topped the Indians 45-21 last year and hold a 5-0 all-time record in the series.

Colbert Heights improved to 2-0 with a 54-38 win at Carbon Hill.

The Wildcats will open Class 3A, Region 7 play on the road against Clements (1-1).

CHHS topped the Colts 14-8 in 2024, with Colbert Heights enjoying a 17-7 advantage in the head-to-head.

Sheffield remains 1-0 after an open week. The Bulldogs will open Class 3A, Region 7 play by hosting Rogers (1-0).

Last year the Pirates shut out the Bulldogs 30-0, but that was before now head coach Michael Parker installed his offense, after which Sheffield’s offense averaged just shy of 41 points a game.

The Bulldogs lead the all-time series with the Pirates 15-12.

Cherokee is off to a 0-2 start in 2025 after a 40-16 loss to Woodville on the road last week.

The Indians will look to put a W on the board when they host Waterloo (1-0) this week.

Cherokee topped Waterloo 36-14 in 2024, with the Indians earning a 15-6 record in the series.
