Colbert Heights opened up the 2025 season with a 38-8 victory over county foe Cherokee. The Wildcats will play at Carbon Hill (0-1) on Aug. 29.

Colbert Heights defeated Carbon Hill 31-8 in 2024, the first meeting of the schools in football.

The Indians (0-1) play at Woodville (0-1) Friday night. Cherokee topped the Panthers 12-10 last season in the first-ever meeting of the teams on the gridiron.

Colbert County opened up the 2025 season with a narrow 27-20 defeat at the hand of Central-Florence.

The Indians (1-0) will host Tanner (0-1) on Aug. 29. CCHS topped the Rattlers 63-0 last season and holds a 7-1 all-time advantage in the series.

Sheffield head coach Michael Parker said during the Football in the South media days in July that his team “owed one” to Decatur Heritage following a 42-22 defeat last year.

The Bulldogs’ offense was firing on all cylinders in the season opener, putting up 70 points to the Eagles’ 36 in the contest.

Sheffield (1-0) has an open week before beginning Class 3A, Region 7 play against Rogers (1-0) on Sept. 5.

The Pirates shut out the Bulldogs 30-0 last year, but Sheffield holds the series advantage at 15-12 overall.
