Candidates set for upcoming municipal elections
The ballots are set for the upcoming Aug. 26 municipal elections, and some changes are already set in stone.
June 24 was the final day for qualifying across The Shoals.
Only Muscle Shoals has each of its mayor and five council members re-running in 2025 for their current positions.
Place 1 incumbent Chris Hall is running unopposed, but he is the only member of the Muscle Shoals City Council not facing opposition.
Mayor Mike Lockhart is facing challenger Billy Hudson.
Place 2 incumbent Gina Clark faces Beth Pirtle, while Willis Thompson of Place 3 is running against Scott Hunter.
Place 4 has the most candidates, with Daron Goodloe and Jennifer Underwood challenging incumbent Ken Sockwell.
For Place 5, Donnie Lindley faces challenger Mike Price.
Sheffield has multiple candidates running against Mayor Steve Stanley, including Tori Bailey, Bryan Van Devender and Penny Freeman.
District 2 will have a new Council member in John Webb, who is running unopposed.
District 1 and District 5 will also feature new Council members, with Thomas Berryhill and William Hart Gargis running for the former and Carol Cooney and Allison Lombard the latter.
Incumbent Fred Mason in District 3 has two challengers in Ethan Stokes and Kelsey Williams.
District 4 incumbent Casheta Rutland faces Constance Finch.
The Tuscumbia City Council will have a number of new members, as Roderick Metcalf (District 1), Robert Gregory (District 4) and Krista Stanley (District 5) are each running unopposed.
Incumbent William Foster, who was appointed to finish out the term of former mayor Kerry “Bubba” Underwood, is seeking a full term, while District 1 incumbent Katie Logan is running against him.
Thurman “T.W.” Billings is also challenging for the mayoral position.
In District 2, incumbent Geraldine Thompkins is challenged by Sidney Hall.
District 4 incumbent Jennifer Bennetch, who was appointed to finish out Foster’s term after he was appointed mayor, is seeking a full term while challenged by Larry Pilkilton.
