BLUE MAP: Deshler baseball brings home state title
The Deshler Tigers varsity baseball team capped an excellent 2025 season with a 2-1 series victory over Bibb County in the AHSAA Class 4A state title game at Jacksonville State University on May 14.
Deshler won Game One 2-1 in Oxford on May 13 before facing a potential doubleheader the next day.
The Tigers were up 3-1 in game Two and needed just three more outs for the sweep, but Bibb County tied the contest with a late surge.
It took extra innings, but the Choctaws took the W and forced Game Three.
BCHS led 1-0 for much of the final game in the series, but Deshler scored one in the fifth, two in the sixth, and a 3-RBI, bases-clearing double by Price Thornton scored Carter Boyett, Cam Fuller and Adrian Byram to put the Tigers up 6-1 in the deciding game.
This time Deshler closed out the contest and earned the first state title in program history.
