Arrest reports for Jan. 4
The following arrests were made by the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office:
— On Dec. 18, Gregory B. Mitchell, 19, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to Deputy Hunter White’s report, deputies were at a gas station on Highway 20 when Mitchell allegedly approached them. He appeared to be under the influence and smelled of marijuana. He asked to visit a restroom and was later observed trying to hide a black baggie with a substance that later tested positive for fentanyl and amphetamines. The contents weighed 1 gram. A half-smoked joint was also found on his person.
— On Dec. 18, Benny R. Bass, 48, was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. According to Deputy Jason Melton’s report, the Colbert County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the residence of Bass. Agents allegedly observed a small baggie of methamphetamine sitting on the table along with two glass pipes that were being used to smoke it. As the search continued agents found a small baggie of marijuana sitting on the kitchen counter with a metal pipe inside the bag.
— On Dec. 21, Anthony S. Merryman, 36, was arrested and charged with second-degree possession of marijuana. According to Deputy Hunter White’s report, he was patrolling in the area of 3 Mile Lane and Spring Valley Road when he allegedly observed a vehicle swerving and emitting the odor of marijuana. After making a traffic stop passenger Merryman was arrested for an active warrant. He admitted to having a small baggie of marijuana, weighing 3 grams, on his person.
— On Dec. 22, Hershell D. Roberts, 38, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to Deputy Hunter White’s report, while patrolling on Reservation Road he allegedly observed a vehicle swerving. After conducting a traffic stop, passenger Angela L. Tigner, 35, was known to have active warrants. She handed over a green straw containing drug paraphernalia. Driver Hershell Roberts admitting to having a “bowl” and other drug paraphernalia. Passengers Jason P. Roberts, 47, and Brandy K. Lambert, 43, were also detained, and a search of the vehicle yielded a glass pipe containing a crystal-like substance identified to be methamphetamine in the driver seat along with a multicolor rubber pipe containing marijuana residue. Located on Jason Roberts’ person was a small plastic baggie containing a green leafy like substance identified to be marijuana. Located in the seat in which Jason Roberts was sitting with some aluminum foil with burn marks, consistent with drug narcotic use with drug paraphernalia burned onto the aluminum foil. A small baggie of what was identified as methamphetamine was found in a deputy’s cruiser, which Hershell Roberts claimed possession of. Another search of each subject was done. Tigner admitted to having a baggie of fentanyl powder. Lambert handed over baggies of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine. Jason Roberts gave up a small baggie containing heroin.
— On Dec. 23, Bobby C. Putnam, 41, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to Deputy Hunter White’s report, he allegedly observed a vehicle with a switched tag in the area of Wilson Dam Road near River Road. Upon making a traffic stop, driver Putnam held active warrants with Lawrence County and Leighton. A search of the vehicle yielded a glass pipe with a burnt residue identified to be methamphetamine. A search of Putnam’s person yielded a small baggie containing 1.62 grams of methamphetamine.
