Trojans fall in 3rd round to Parker
Another football season has come and gone, and for the second year in a row for the Muscle Shoals Trojans, the pain of a third-round playoff defeat.
Muscle Shoals fell to a Parker team loaded with Division I college talent 35-10 on Nov. 22.
The Trojans end the year at 9-3 and with their ninth region title.
The Thundering Herd scored first on a 51-yard run early in the opening quarter.
The two teams traded possessions for the rest of the period until Parker went up 14-0 near the start of the second quarter.
Muscle Shoals mounted a drive but stalled at the Parker 14-yard line. Jorge Garcia was able to put a kick through the uprights to get the Trojans on the board with three points.
The score would remain 14-3 at halftime, but a muffed punt recovered by Jack Lawler would give Muscle Shoals excellent field position at the Parker 18-yard line.
The Trojans would capitalize on the opportunity when Kade Clemmons connected with Ezra Fowler for a 15-yard touchdown pass. Garcia made the point after to narrow the gap to 14-10.
Unfortunately, that would be the end of the scoring on the night for MSHS, and the Thundering Herd would pull away from there.
Despite the football season coming to a close, this will not be the final game for Jaquess Greene this year.
He has been selected to play on the North team during the AHSAA North-South All-Star football game scheduled for Dec. 13 in Mobile.
