Oct. 12 Colbert County Sheriff’s Office arrest reports

The following arrest reports were made by the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office:

— On Oct. 1 Danny O. Vinson was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. According to Deputy Hunter L. White’s affidavit, he was patrolling in the area of Spring Valley Loop and Lagrange Road in Leighton when he saw Vinson, who he knew to have multiple active warrants, pull into Spring Valley Market. While making contact, White also identified a passenger as Gary J. McClung, who also had active warrants. McClung and Vinson were handcuffed. While running information on the warrants, Vinson admitted to having a roach in the vehicle. Located in the center console of the vehicle was small burnt rolled up paper containing a green leafy like substance identified to be marijuana. McClung’s warrant was withy Tuscumbia Police, and while waiting for a TPD officer, a crystal-like substance was observed scattered into the cracks of the back passenger seat where McClung had been. The substance was later identified as methamphetamine.

— On Oct. 2, Benny R. Bass was arrested on a prior warrant for trafficking methamphetamine. According to Deputy Ryan A. Green’s affidavit, he was patrolling in the area o West 4th Street and Main Street in Tuscumbia when he observed a vehicle with a tag that expired in 2018. Upon conducting a traffic stop in front of the Colbert County Jail, the driver was identified as Bass, who held a grand jury indictment warrant. Once the charge was confirmed, Bass was arrested.
