Sherman Gene Hendrix, 66

Sherman Gene Hen­drix, 66, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024. Vis­itation will be Tuesday, September 3, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. A graveside service will follow at Harris Chapel Cemetery, Cherokee, be­ginning at 11:30 a.m. with Rod Stansky officiating.

Sherman was a member of the Methodist church. He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Hen­drix; and sisters, Pamela Hart and Teresa Saran.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Thorn­burg; stepfather, Neil Thornburg; and sister, Cyndy Meckl (Dennis).

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

James Timothy Borden, 66

James Timothy Borden, age 66, of Tuscumbia, died Saturday, August 31, 2024. The funeral service will be Monday, Sep­tember 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Westside Bap­tist Church, with Jeremy Sanderson officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in Harris Chapel Cemetery.

A native of Colbert County, Mr. Borden was born on March 25, 1958, to the late James Wood­row and Vera Schultz Bor­den. He was a computer operator in the banking industry and a mem­ber of Westside Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Borden was also preceded in death by his sister, Gail Hand.

Survivors include his siblings, Laura Ezekiel (Bobby), Ronnie Bor­den (Donna), and Sandra Borden, and a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Taylor Harrison, Ethan Harrison, Jonathan Har­rison, Jacob Fountain, Jackson Fountain, and Justin Fountain. Honor­ary pallbearer is Levi Hill.

Frances Coburn, 82

Frances Coburn, 82, of Tuscumbia, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 3, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Jeremy Sand­erson officiating. Inter­ment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Frances was a mem­ber of Westside Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, moth­er, and grandmother and loved working with her Lighthouse kids. She also loved to travel. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Coburn; father, Monroe Lindley; mother, Lois Lindley; brother, Bubba Baugher; and sisters, Mar­tha Goodge, Sarah Brown, and Naomi Baugher.

She is survived by her children, Lorie Hovater (Hollis) and Steve Co­burn (Tamela); brother, Bill Baugher (Connie); grandchildren, Matt Ho­vater (Caity), Lindsey Cole (Jeffrey), Holley Carruth (Keith), Ryan Co­burn, Clay Coburn (Kay­ley), and Zack Coburn (Andrea); great-grand­children, Everleigh and Adalynn Hovater, Alayna, Nate, Micah, and Tripp Cole, Ivey Green, Bro­dyn and Braelynn Co­burn, Oakleigh and Ka­son Coburn, and Saygen Sanderson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Matt Ho­vater, Ryan Coburn, Clay Coburn, Zack Coburn, Jeffrey Cole, and Stan­ley Barton her grandsons.

The family express­es special thanks to Affinity Hospice espe­cially, Matt Flanagan and Amanda Jeffreys.

David William Maxwell, 47

David William Max­well, 47, of Cherokee, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 30, 2024. David suffered from a long term seizure disorder and passed away during a seizure event. Visitation will be Mon­day, September 2, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee with a me­morial service following in the funeral home chap­el. Brother Steve Slaton will officiate the service. A private graveside will be held at a later date.

David was a graduate of the Cherokee High School class of 1995 and a member of First Baptist Church in Cher­okee. He was retired from the Tissue Plant.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Maxwell, ; grandmothers, Nell Williams and Ka­tie Maxwell; grandfa­ther, Leroy “Simp” Max­well; and a baby brother.

David is survived by his daughters, Ash­lynn Maxwell and Syd­ney Maxwell; grandson, Blake; mother, Donna Jo Maxwell; sister, Dean­na Terry (Lee); brother, Daniel Maxwell (Tosha); his precious nieces, Kar­li, Evelyn, and Lydia Maxwell; and grandfa­ther, Bobby Williams.

Benny Ray Pounders, 66

Benny Ray Pound­ers, 66, of Tuscumbia, Alabama passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Cher­okee. The funeral will immediately follow with Paul Haley officiating. Burial will be in Moun­tain Springs Cemetery.

Benny was preceded in death by his father, Billy Fountain; and brothers, Ricky, Jackie, and Steve Pounders. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Plun­kett; daughter, Chasity Pounders (Scotty); moth­er, Jody Fountain; and brothers, Larry Pound­ers, and Gary Pounders.

Benny worked at Rog­ers Group for 47 years as a frontend loader. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Susan R.

Blasingame, 74

Susan R. Blasingame, 74, of Muscle Shoals passed from this life sur­rounded by loved ones on August 29, 2024. Her visitation will be Tues­day, September 3, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Wednes­day, September 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tus­cumbia with Shane Swin­ney officiating. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Leighton.

Susan was born in Col­bert County to James and Stella Lyell. She graduated from Colbert County High School in 1968. In 1969, she met and married her husband now of 55 years, Ben Blasingame. Susan worked at Rogers Depart­ment Store for 40 years while raising her three be­loved children. She took great pride in raising them while wearing many hats. She was director and sing­er in the Sweet Adelines, a seamstress, and the Mus­cle Shoals Band Boost­ers. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Stella Lyell.

Susan is survived by her loving husband, Ben Blas­ingame; children, Sha­lako King (Brad), Amy Gable (Jimmy), Bonnie Drake (Tad), and Jorja Farris; siblings, Peggy Word (Barry) Ricky Ly­ell (Elaine), and Nathan Lyell (Cindy); sister-in-law, Bonetha Massengale (Rob); brother-in-law, Er­nest Blasingame; grand­children, Sydney King, Molly King, Faith Smith, Justin Landers, Raylee Drake, Autumn Gable, Jamey Gable, and Zacary Harris; great grandchil­dren, Zariah Harris and Levi Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family expresses special thanks to all the nurses and caregivers who helped take care of her throughout her journey.

Yvlette Rushing Berryman, 88

Yvlette Rushing Berry­man, 88, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024. The fu­neral service will be held on Saturday, August 31, at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Mark Par­ris officiating. Interment will be in Colbert Memo­rial Gardens, Tuscumbia.

Yvlette was a mem­ber of Leighton United Methodist Church. She was a retired elementa­ry education teacher and previously served as a Leighton Public Library Board member for many years. She was a member of Teachers Sorority, Del­ta Kappa Gamma. Yvlette was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Lois Rushing; sisters, Brenda Young and Deb­ra McCary; and grand­daughter, Rozalyn Liston.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Berry­man; children, Felicia Smith (Kelly), Jim Berry­man (Stacy), Mary Brice (Tom), John Berryman, and Suzie Berryman; grandchildren, Rush Al­exander, Kaylyn Brimlow (Scott), Ashtyn Hutchins (Stephan), Roy Berry­man (Maranda), Holly Backe (Tommy), Haley Rohling (Lane), Calvin Berryman, Joshua Brice, Allie Brice, John Thom­as Brice, Joey Wilbanks, Savanna Stanfield (Seth), and Mary Hanna Wil­banks; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Linda Sue

Whittle McAnally, 75

Linda Sue Whittle McAnally, 75, Ellenton, FL, formerly of Tus­cumbia, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Linda was a member of Our Lady of the Shoals. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Bernice Whittle, and brothers, James Whit­tle and Russell Whittle.

Linda is survived by her husband, Thomas A. McAnally; children, James Tidwell (Teresa), Jerrold Tidwell (Tim), and Amy Jean McAnally (Jeff); siblings, Pat Mitch­ell (Billy), Donnie Whit­tle (Vicki), Steve Whit­tle (Susan), and Richard Whittle (Shirley); grand­children, Amber Boyd (Donald), Katlyn Tidwell, and Danny Tidwell; and her beloved cat, Gibson.

Brynda Sue

Johnson, 84

Brynda Sue Johnson, 84, of Cherokee, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Visitation will be Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 10 am until 12 pm at Morrison Fu­neral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Wade Wallace offici­ating. Interment will be in Mt. Hester Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery.

Brynda was a registered nurse for over 40 years, a devoted mother, grand­mother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Bil­ly” William Johnson; son, Gregory “Scotty” John­son; parents, Rex and Pau­line Rutherford; and sis­ter, Barbara Ann Prather.

Brynda is survived by her children, Theresa Di­ane McWilliams (Bryan), Charla “Susy” Susette Nichelson (Keith), and William “Brad” Brad­ley Johnson (Tallie); sister, Norma Faye Met­zler; and grandsons, Jor­dan and Josh Nichelson, Will and Tanner Johnson, and Tucker McWilliams.

The family expresses a special thanks to Hos­pitality House Personal Care, especially Minnie Rupledge, Chasity Al­ley, and Debbie Melton, Gentiva Hospice nurs­es, Jessica and Britta­ny, and her caregivers, Lyndsey and Britney.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Winter King, 95

Jessie Mae Winter King, 95, Tuscumbia, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Visitation will be Thursday, August 29, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funer­al service will be Friday, August 30, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Tuscum­bia, beginning at 11:00 with Bro. Danny Stanford and Bro. Jacob Fleming officiating. Mrs. King will lie in state one hour prior to the start of the service. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Jessie was a member of Victory Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-nine years, Pastor Malcolm Thomas King; parents, Austin and Nan­cy Ann Winter; siblings, Lily Prater, Louis Winter, Annie Lou Askew, Leon­ard Winter, Joe Dalton Winter, Sidney Winter, and Robert Winter; and grandson, Jacob King.

Jessie is survived by five sons, Wayne (Barba­ra), Harold (Carol), David (Carolyn), Danny (Diane), and Dalton (Chastity); one daughter, Connie Scogin (Jackie); fifteen grand­children, Michelle, Wes­ley, Tammy, Darryl, Amy, Mack, Jessica, Rebekah, Jennifer, Jonathan, Dan­ielle, Jordan, Blaine, Lo­gan, and Gavin; thirty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great-grand­children; two sisters, Nancy Viall and Marjo­rie Glass; and a beloved host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Wesley, Darryl, Mack, Logan, and Gavin King, Jona­than and Jordan Scogin, and Gage McCormack.

The family would like to thank the staff of Gen­tiva Hospice for their ex­cellent care and support.

Charles Howard Lamon

Charles Howard Lamon (Sam) passed away peace­fully on Monday August 26th, 2024, surrounded by his family. Charles is sur­vived by his loving wife of 58 years, Judy Paden Lamon; and his children, Jeffrey Howard Lam­on and Suzanne Lamon Browning (Jerry); sisters, Cathy Lamon Crosswhite and Debra Elaine Lamon; and his four granddaugh­ters, Paden Browning Majure (Christopher), Al­lyn Elizabeth Browning, Alexia ‘Lexi’ Faith Lam­on, and Madison Grace Lamon. He is also sur­vived by his niece, Susan Crosswhite Coke (Frank­ie); great-nephew, Blake Barber (Morgan); great-niece, Lauren Luedtke (Alex); and his beloved great-great-nephews, Owen, Luke and Ryan Barber, and great-great-niece, Lawson Luedtke.

Charles was born on September 27, 1946, to Marlin and Lorene Lam­on of Jefferson County. Directly after proudly graduating from Deshler High School at the age of 18, Charles joined the Army National Guard. He was enrolled from Feb­ruary 1964 and retired as Command Sergeant Major in September of 2006. Charles received several awards for his service in the Alabama National Guard. Those awards include Legion of Merit, Defense Mer­itorious Service Medal, Defense Service Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commenda­tion Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and Presidential Unit Citation. He served in many units: 167 Theater Support Command, Joint Force Headquarters- Homeland Security, 122 Corp Sup­port Group, Headquar­ters 115 Signal Battalion, Company A 155 Signal Battalion, and Company B 115 Signal Battalion.

During his career, he worked for Southern Bell Telephone Compa­ny, completed the IBEW Apprenticeship Program, worked as an electri­cian at the Ford Motor Company, served Ford Motor Company as the UAW Bargain Chairman, Retired Command Ser­geant Major in the Al­abama National Guard, and ended his career at the IBEW 558 as Assis­tant Business Agent in which he retired in 2016.

Charles was an active member in the Tuscumbia community serving on the Tuscumbia City Council, coaching Jeff and Suzy’s ball teams, and the DHS Quarterback Club. Since his retirement, Charles enjoyed spending time with his family, travel­ing across the US with his wife and sisters, and loved the beach. He was a man of faith and fam­ily. He was known to many of his granddaugh­ters’ friends as “Papa” and him and Judy never missed a sporting event, graduation, or special oc­casion. The family would like to sincerely thank all of Charles’s nurses at Helen Keller Hospital, Dr. Heaton and his staff, Dr. Adam Isbell and his staff, and the staff at Da­vita Dialysis of Sheffield.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, from noon until 2:00 p.m. at First Methodist Church of Tuscumbia. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Alan Beasley and Barrett Long officiating. Interment will be in Col­bert Memorial Gardens.
