Christa Locke Hall, 95
Christa Locke Hall, 95, of Tuscumbia passed away Friday, August 16, 2024. Arrangements will be announced by Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia.
Christa was a native of Marion, AL. She was a graduate of Perry County High School and the University of Alabama. She was a Colbert County Extension Agent and a longtime 4-H teacher. Christa was lifelong member of the Methodist Church serving at Marion Methodist Church and First Methodist Church of Tuscumbia. She loved gardening, antiquing, and spending time at her parents’ beach cottage in Gulf Shores.
Christa was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and was preceded in death by her husband, Sam James Hall, Jr.; parents, Judson Cleveland and Etoyle Tucker Locke; sisters, Frances Rumley and Margaret McCluney; and brothers, Judson Locke and Jimmy Locke.
She is survived by sons, Sam Hall III (Nan), Phil Hall (Beth), and Christopher Hall (Heather); sister, Gwendolyn Miller; grandchildren, Andrea Hall, Susan Patton (Brock), Thomas Hall (Anne), Julia Jacobs (Jeron), Alex Hall, and Haley Hall; and nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Methodist Church of Tuscumbia.
Lucie Bryant Ayers, 82
Lucie Bryant Ayers, 82, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 20, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Chad Holder officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Lucie was a member of Tuscumbia Church of Christ. She also served her community as a member of the Study Club, the DAR, the Kennedy Douglas Art Center, and the Tennessee Valley Art Center. Lucie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Ayers; son, Greg Ayers; mother, Letha Bryant; brother, Clifford Bryant; and sisters, Jean Ramsey and Patricia Bryant.
Lucie is survived by her son, Jeff Ayers (Karen); brother, Jim Bryant (Connie); sisters, Catherine Sandstrom and Wanda Wilson; grandchildren, Jennifer Thorp (Trey) and William Ayers (Angie); and great-grandchildren, Charlie Thorp, Olivia Thorp, Sayer Ayers, and Abigail Ayers.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Galloway, Wayne Pate, Keith Willingham, Doug Brown, Gary Pounders, and Jack Underwood.
The family would like to thank all the amazing caregivers at Cottage of the Shoals.

J.G. “Jimbo” Hamm, 82
- G. “Jimbo” Hamm, Cherokee, was born on April 4, 1942, and passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024, at the age of 82.
He was the son of Ernest and Bessie Hamm and was a retired Engineer for Norfolk Southern.
He is survived by sons, Mitch (Susan) and Ryan (Holley); grandchildren, Whitney Hamm (Kevin Moody), Morgan Williams (Robbins), Sarah Jane Hamm (Cam Tallakson), Mae Margaret Hamm, Isabella Hamm, Wesley Staples (Alyssa) and Sydney Rhine (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Sadler Grace Williams, Birdie Williams, Micah Staples and Laney Rhine; and special caregivers, Deanna Frevold and Christina Adams.
A memorial graveside service will be held on Friday, August 16, at Morris Hill Cemetery, Cherokee, beginning at 11:00 a.m., with Bro. Buddy Dover officiating.

Elizabeth Ann Gotcher Hallmark, 79, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Visitation will be Saturday, August 17, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Harlon Hallmark officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Ann was a member of Highland Park Church of Christ and graduated from Colbert County High School with the Class of 1963. She was a member of Southern Railway Officer’s Ladies Club and volunteered at both Helen Keller and Shoals Hospitals. Ann was preceded in death by her father, John Irvin Gotcher, and mother, Dorothy Elizabeth Gotcher; sister, Gwen Revee Gotcher; husband, Bobby Neil Hallmark; and son Anthony Neil Hallmark.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Natasha Ann Hallmark; son, Patrick Todd Hallmark and wife Tracy; and grandchildren, Nikki Dianne Stewart and Branden Neil Hallmark.
Pallbearers will be Philip Hallmark, Matthew Hallmark, Billy Counce, Jr., Brad Counce, and Branden Hallmark.

Randolph “Randy” Porter Ethridge, 71
Randolph “Randy” Porter Ethridge, 71, of Cherokee, Alabama, passed from this life on Monday, August 12, 2024. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, J.L. and Dorothy Ethridge. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kay Ethridge; children, Jason Ethridge (Kaci), Travis Smith (Anna), Alison Ethridge, Kayla Ethridge; brothers, Danny Ethridge (Dana), Ricky Ethridge (Bettye); 4 grandchildren; niece, Melina Ham; and lifelong friend, William James.
Randy was a heavy equipment operator and member of the Operating Engineers Local 320 for 25 years, and a member of IBEW Local 852 for 10 years.

Daniel Keith Province, 67, Tuscumbia, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024. Visitation will be Saturday, August 17, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Sunday, August 18, in the funeral home chapel, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens, Tuscumbia.
Daniel was the owner of Babco Roofing. He loved fishing and hunting with his son, Danny. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Joe and Margie Province.
Daniel is survived by his son, Danny Joe Province (Courtney); sisters, Vickie Glover, Catherine Weaver, and Bobbie-Jo Province; and grandson, Ethan George.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Paul Ray Tate, 81
Paul Ray Tate, 81, of Muscle Shoals, AL died on Monday, August 12, 2024. Visitation will be on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 10-11 a.m. at Valley Grove Baptist Church with a service to follow. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Bro. Greg Beasley will be officiating. Colbert Memorial Chapel is assisting the family.
He is preceded in death by his father Ransom Tate and mother Willie Mae Greer; step-father George Greer; wife Charlene Tate; sister Ruby Hand.
He is survived by son Donny Mahatha (Kim); daughter’s Georgetta Tate, Tonya Brewer (CW), Tracy Tate; grandchildren Aaron Mahatha, Kristie Prescott (Sheldon), Katie Mahatha, Jessie Tate, Dominic Tate, Haven Tate, Logan Brewer; great-grandchildren Hudson and Greyson Prescott.
Paul was known as the family prankster, he had a unique talent for bringing laughter into the lives of those he loved. He was a family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a huge Alabama football fan as well as a fan of the Atlanta Braves baseball team. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
Patricia Ann Croy Borden, 76
Patricia Ann Croy Borden, 76, Tuscumbia, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Visitation will be Saturday, August 24, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jamison Edwards and Brian Vandiver officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Missionary Baptist Cemetery. Tuscumbia.
Patricia was a member of Isbell Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She was a loyal Walmart associate for over thirty-five years. Patricia loved her God, she loved her church, and she loved you. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Croy; father, William Croy; brothers, Marvin Croy and W. L. Croy; sisters, Virgie Vickers and Martha Vickers; and sons, Dwight Borden, David “Jug” Borden, and Bryan Borden.
Patricia is survived by her daughter-in-law, Deanna Borden; brother, James Croy; sister, Debra Ransom (Randy); grandchildren, Jeffie Borden (Adrienne) and Jessica Borden; great-grandchildren, Colten Bryant, Willow Yonson, Isabella Borden, and Emillia Borden; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chip Ransom, Tommy Farrell, Maddix Rupley, Colten Bryant, Brian Vandiver, Jay Castile, Brody Vandiver, and Benji Newell.
Ann Garrett, 80
Funeral service for Ann Garrett, 80, Decatur, will be Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Geoff Halbrooks officiating and Peck Funeral Home Directing. Burial will be in Tharptown Cemetery in Russellville, Alabama. Visitation will be Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Ms. Garrett passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Decatur Health & Rehab Center. She was born September 20, 1943, in Lawrence County, to George John Letson and Bessie Beatrice Callahan Letson.
She was a Methodist in her faith and enjoyed attending church. She loved to help others and did so by working with Community Action as a Sitter and in her earlier days was a Waitress.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Garrett; a son, Joey Redding; a daughter, Lisa McRenolds; her parents; two brothers, George John Letson, Jr. and Jerry Wayne Letson; and a sister, Shirley Faye Myers.
Survivors include sisters, Betty White and Donna Jo Thompson; brother, Standley Letson; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brock Boyd, Mike Boyd, Hunter Aldridge, and Chase White.
