Inaugural Kids Fest July 20 in Tuscumbia

A new event for children and their parents is coming to downtown Tuscumbia this weekend.

The owners of Oak + Ivy Threads are hosting the inaugural Kids Fest July 20 from 4-8 p.m.

The event will include vendors, food trucks and fun activities for kids to enjoy.

“There are really no events here like this focused just on kids, so we thought…let’s create one,” co-owner Angelia Myhan said in a release. “We decided to have the event on July 20 as it is tax-free weekend and many families will be out shopping, and it will be set up similar to Second Saturdays. We have vendors, food trucks, and nonprofits all coming to set up, many with different games and activities for kids to do.”

The owners of Oak + Ivy Threads also have a group called The Shoals Mom, created in 2022, to help keep mothers in the area aware of kid-friendly events and other information.

“We have so many events here, sometimes daily, and it can be hard to keep up with them or decide which one to go to,” Myhan said. “We created The Shoals Mom to not only post about kid-friendly events but support local businesses as well.

“We have a website with many different things, such as a calendar where we have daily events posted, a seasonal section, free kid’s meals and more. We also have a Facebook page and group, Instagram and TikTok where we share these things as well.”
