Colbert County Historical Landmarks Foundation Manush essay contest
The Colbert County Historical Landmarks Foundation is currently accepting entries for its Heinie Manush Essay Contest. To be eligible to participate, you must be an 11th or 12th grader in a high school located in Colbert County, Alabama. Or, you must be an 11th or 12th grader currently being homeschooled in Colbert County, Alabama.
Entries will be judged by a panel. Essays are due by midnight May 10, 2024. Winners will be notified by May 15, 2024 and will be recognized at Heinie Manush Day on Sunday, May 18, 2024 at Heinie Manush Field.
Essays must focus on the life and accomplishments of baseball player Heinie Manush. Submissions must be typed and double-spaced, using a 12-point Times New Roman font. Essays must not exceed 5 pages in length. There is no minimum page requirement.
Each essay must have a title page that includes the following:
Title of the Essay
Name of the student author
High school attended by the student author
Grade level of the student author
Essays can be submitted here by midnight on May 10, 2024.
Winners will receive cash prizes. First place: $75; Second Place: $50; Third Place: $25
The winning essay will run in the Colbert County Reporter.
