Russell Pittman Condra, Jr., 98

Russell Pittman Con­dra, Jr., 98, of Sheffield, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024. A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, July 12, at 1:00 pm at Tri-Cities Memo­rial Gardens with Doug Murphy, Jr. officiating.

Russell was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Elizabeth “Lib” Condra, and his son, Steve Condra (Cathy). He is survived by his two daughters, Becky Mur­phy (Doug) and Mollie Condra; his three grand­children, Dee Murphy (Leslie), David Murphy (Tara), and Ashley Moore (Benjamin); his four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grand­son; along with his sister, Marilyn Spurgeon, and his brother, Carl Condra.

Russell grew up in Tus­cumbia and, upon adult­hood, moved to Sheffield where he lived the remain­der of his life. In WWII, he served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in the 3190th Engineers Service Battal­ion. He earned a Purple Heart award for his brave service in the Pacific Ocean theatre of the war.

Following his honorable discharge from military service, Russell began his career in management at Liberty Supermarket in Florence. In the early 1970s, he and his wife, Lib, became entrepre­neurs by opening and run­ning “Russell’s Meats,” which proudly served the Shoals area for near­ly three decades. Russell was a member of the Cox Blvd. Church of Christ.

The family of Russell Condra wishes to thank Jeff and Lisa Elledge and their family for their friendship, kindness, and loving assistance pro­vided to Russell. The family also extends their sincere gratitude to the staff at Keestone Senior Community in Florence, who provided outstand­ing care to Russell in the last season of his life.

Howard Eugene Daniel, 82

Howard Eugene Dan­iel, 82, Tuscumbia, passed away from a sudden ill­ness on Sunday, July 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be Friday, July 12, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funer­al service will be Satur­day, July 13, at Red Rock Church of Christ, begin­ning at 2:00 p.m. with David Conley and Antho­ny Briggs officiating. Mr. Daniel will lie-in-state one hour prior to the start of the service. Interment will be in Colbert Memo­rial Gardens, Tuscumbia.

Mr. Daniel was born in Franklin County, in the Rock Creek Communi­ty. He was a graduate of Cherokee Vocational High School where he met his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia McWilliams. He earned his B.S. in history and political science and later a master’s degree in education from Florence State College. He also received his master’s in psychology from Alabama A&M, Huntsville. In 1967, he began his teach­ing career employed as the drafting instructor at Allen Thornton Vocation­al and Technical School in Lauderdale County. He was a compassionate ed­ucator and dedicated 38 years to Russellville High School as the drafting teacher. Mr. Daniel de­voted his life to the teach­ing profession and was presently employed as an adjunct psychology teach­er at Northwest Shoals Community College.

Mr. Daniel was a mem­ber of the Red Rock Church of Christ and presently served as an el­der for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emray and Lillie Daniel, brother L.D. Daniel, and daugh­ter Jennifer Daniel Shull.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Daniel; daughter, Allison Daniel Roberts (Chris); grandchildren, Ethan Rob­erts, Maggie Shull, Alex­andra Shull, and Emilee Roberts; sister-in-law, Geraldine Daniel; niece, Leigh Daniel; and neph­ew, Larry Daniel (Julie) daughters Kelli and Lily.

Pallbearers will be Wade Baker, Gene Elli­son, Bryan McWilliams, Tucker McWilliams, Matt Parker, Darryl Rut­land, and Steve Walton. Honorary pallbearer is nephew, Larry Daniel.

Juanita Reeves, 99

Juanita Reeves, 99, of Cherokee, Alabama, passed away peacefully Monday, July 8, 2024. Vis­itation will be Thursday, July 11th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Morrison Fu­neral Home in Cherokee. There will be a graveside service Friday, July 12th at 10:00am in McGlam­ery Stand Cemetery, Col­linwood, Tennessee. John Dial will be officiating.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Douglas Reeves; parents, Flora (Copeland) Jones, Marshall Jones; brothers, Warren and Marshall Jones; sisters, Nell Berry, Jean Jaynes, and Veda Wright. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Meyer (Peter); son, Joey Reeves (Jo­anne); grandchildren, Jes­sica Sharps (Mike), and Walker Reeves (Skyylar).

She was a longtime res­ident of Cherokee and a member of the Method­ist church. Juanita was a member of the Homemak­ers Club, and she quilted for many years making keepsakes for family and friends. She loved enter­taining and cooking and having people around her. Her love of life was infec­tious. She would surround herself with flowers and always got a thrill out of seeing the birds around her, believing they were a special gift from God. She was always involved in making the life of those around her better.

The family would like to thank those who cared for our mother through the years, with special thanks to Cheryl Collumn, Ruby Smith, Kathrin Wright, and Mary Jo Corsbie.

Elloween Posey Smelser Bolton, 91, of Rock Creek, AL, passed away on Tues­day, July 9, 2024. Visita­tion will be Friday, July 12, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Kyle Dobbs officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Memori­al Gardens, Russellville.

Elloween was a de­vout Christian, attending Highland Park Church of Christ for many years. She was preceded in death by her son, Steve Smels­er; granddaughter, Lynn Renfro Tyree; husband, and father of her children, Charlie “Doc” Smelser; husband, William “Shorty” Bolton; and ten siblings.

Elloween is survived by her children, Charles Ray Smelser (Carolyn), Sarah Renfro (Richard), Rus­sell Smelser (Bonita), and Kimberly Aday (Scott); sister, Gladys Posey Gar­gis; grandchildren, Carey Stancil, Jonathan Renf­ro, Caleb Smelser, Amber Robinson, Malea Smels­er, Jeremy Smelser, Justin Smelser, and Kyle Dobbs; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brett Fish, Luke Renfro, Landon Renfro, Jeremy Smels­er, Caleb Smelser, Triston Tyree, Jon Renfro, and Greyson Dobbs. Charles Smelser, Russell Smels­er, Stan Chappell, and Mike Chappell will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Catrina “Trina” Crumpton, 58

Catrina “Trina” Crump­ton, 58, Tuscumbia, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediate­ly follow in the funeral home chapel with Greg Lawrence officiating. In­terment will be in Glen­dale Cemetery, Leighton.

Trina was a lifelong res­ident of the Shoals and a member of New Sockwell Baptist Church. She was a caregiver and special friend to Blake Aycock. A generous giver to every­one, she especially loved her family and friends and will be missed by all. Tri­na was preceded in death by her birth parents, Lin­da and Charles Campbell; parents, Dean and Lucian Tidwell; son Bradley Scott Franks; special nephew, Kayne Isaiah King, and sister, Marquitta Staggs.

Trina is survived by her sisters, Lucy Lowry (Ty­rone) and Kaye Franks (Roger); brother-in-law, Lynn Staggs; uncles, Robert Campbell, Cur­tis Campbell, and Tom Campbell; special friends, Millinean Mansell Law­rence, Bethany Bishop, and Kay Hayes; a host of nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Trina also loved her furbabies, Petey, Moose, and Oreo.

Pallbearers will be Mikey Bassham, Guy Wat­son, Danny Mansell, Ty­ler Mansell, Joel Hayes, Eddie Murphee, Mike Prince, and Zachary Ke­balitis. Blake Aycock, Greg Watson, Michael Daw­son, Tyrone Lowry, Roger Franks, Lynn Staggs, and Robert Campbell will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Bonnie S. Roland Swendsrud, 83

Bonnie S. Roland Sw­endsrud, 83, Florence, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Visitation will be Sunday, July 14, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediate­ly follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Stanley Luntungan offici­ating. Interment will be in Guy Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Bonnie Sue was a mem­ber of Shoals Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and she loved to read. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ardell Swends­rud; parents, Clarence and Claudine Roland; sister, Doris Stout; and brothers, Wayne and Donald Roland.

Bonnie Sue is survived by her children, Darlene McCaig (Alan), Marsha Belk (Mike), James Pay­ton (Linda), and Regina Payton; grandchildren, Benjamin Belk, Jordan McCaig, Deven Kinkead, Morgan Ashe, and Sean Kinkead; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Tina Diane Simmons, 54, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Visitation will be Friday, July 12, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Sam Wal­lace officiating. Interment will be in Shady Grove Cemetery, Muscle Shoals.

Tina was preceded in death by her father, Har­old Simmons; grandpar­ents, Effie Wade, George Wade, Lorene Simmons, and Gertrude and Grover Simmons; and numer­ous family and friends.

She is survived by her mother, Eunice Simmons; sister, Eugenia Simmons (Jessie); nephews, Bran­don Yates, Cameron Yates, and Chris Yates; Godchil­dren, Jackson, Hayleigh, Makayla, Dallas, Dame­on, Shontina, and Asia; best friends, Sheryl Coo­per and Carla Terry; and special aunt, Jessie Ray.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Elois Kathleen “Kathy” Inman, 68

Elois Kathleen “Kathy” Inman, 68, Waterloo, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. No services will be held at this time.

Kathy was a retired em­ployee of the City of Flor­ence and a member of the Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Agee and Margaret Elois Inman; and brother, Paul Inman.

Kathy is survived by her brother, William D. Inman (Faye); niece, DeaLynn Kerby (Dwight); nephew, John Inman (Christy); and great-nieces, Ashley Turn­er (Jody), and Myrissa Lowery; and great-great-nieces and nephews, Lib­by, Eli, Alex, and Isabel.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Chil­dren’s Research Hospital.

Annie Evelyn Kennamore, 85

Annie Evelyn Ken­namore, 85, Leighton, passed away on Wednes­day, July 10, 2024. Visita­tion will be Saturday, July 13, from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediate­ly follow in the funeral home chapel with Shane Swinney officiating. Inter­ment will be in Glendale Cemetery Muscle Shoals.

Evelyn was a member of the Christian faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Kennamore; son, Roland Gene Kennamore; sister, Shirley Slaby; brothers, Jimmy Webb and Gene Webb; and granddaugh­ter, Danielle Alexander.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Sherry Baird (James Epstein), Doy Ken­namore (Darlene), Sheila Weaver (Marc), and Jackie Kennamore (Stacy); broth­er, Jackie Webb; special family members Ray and Chris Kennamore; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Rus­sell Kennamore, Will Baird, Daniel Kennamore, Britton Kennamore, Brody Wat­son, and Thomas Arcuri.

Helen Jean McCormack Woods, 87, of Leighton, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024. Visitation will be Monday, July 15, from 10 a.m. -11 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediate­ly follow in the funeral home chapel with Mike Weldon and Nick Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Tuscumbia.

Helen was a native and lifelong resident of Leigh­ton. She worked in the caf­eteria for the Colbert Coun­ty School System and was a member of Blythe Memori­al Methodist Church. Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Woods; parents, Frank and Mattie Mc­Cormack; and broth­ers, Hubert, Raymond, and J.B. McCormack.

Helen is survived by her children, Angela Bretherick (Donnie), Randy Woods (Regina), Danny Woods (Shelia), and Daryl Woods; sisters, Ona Mayfield, Lu­cille Pace, Gayle McDon­ald, and Mary Campbell; grandchildren, Nick Woods (Katie), Clay Woods (Me­gan), Angela Woods, Al­lison Woods (John Love­lace), and Anna Woods; great-grandchildren, Judah, Avery, and Evan Woods, Titus and Josie Woods; a host of nieces and neph­ews; and beloved cat, Tom.

Gerald Johnson Young, 90

Gerald Johnson Young, 90, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024. There will be a graveside service at 1:15 p.m. on Friday, July 19, at the Alabama Na­tional Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Monteval­lo, AL 35115. Visita­tion will follow at the American Village, which is next to the cemetery, at 3727 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL 35115 in the Rotunda Room.

Gerald was a native of Birmingham, Alabama and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Kore­an Conflict. He was pre­ceded in death by his son, Ronald L. Young; par­ents, Charles Edward and Ruth Elizabeth Young; and 2 brothers, Charles Edward Young, Jr. and Thomas Wayne Young.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 71 years, Frances Naomi Young; children, Catherine E. Kelley, Dennis W. Young and wife, Glenda, G. Todd Young and wife, Robin, and G. Steven Young and wife, Lesa; daughter-in-law, Teresa Young; broth­ers, Donald D. Young and wife, Frances and David A. Young and wife, De­nise; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grand­children; and a host of nieces and nephews.
