Dude’s BBQ open in Spring Park

The temperature was soaring, the lines were constant and the smoke ring on the fresh-cooked brisket was a nice pink (or deep purple) at Dude’s BBQ in Spring Park.

Duo owners Adam Myrick and Porsha Dunn had the business up and running in their new home on June 24 at 11 a.m.

By 1 p.m., the food was all but sold out for the day. Myrick said he had been at the restaurant since 6 p.m. the previous night preparing for launch.

“I’m ready to go home and take a nap,” he said.

Dunn said the lines had been steady, and the restaurant busy throughout the lunch period despite the 90-plus degree weather.

Not a bad opening for the new restaurant in town.

Sure, there were some hiccups, like a missing fork or an uncooperative window, but Myrick and Dunn said things went well on opening day.

“The guy that did our signs said he drives to Nashville for good barbecue,” Myrick said. “After he tried our food, he said he wouldn’t have to make that drive anymore.”

The restaurant also offers kayak rentals through a partner business, given the venue’s proximity to the newly opened kayak launch in Spring Park.
